I really enjoyed this book! I’m so interested in psychological matters; how the brain works, why they work etc. This was a really interesting take on how the brain works, how you can notice it’s patterns and when they’re in play. Whether that’s making decisions, during tests/examinations and even during conversations with others.

This book was full of information but still managed to be short and concise. I didn’t find it hard to get into, I feel like you could easily read this without any background knowledge of psychology to have an understanding.

Marlin Cluts has also included references of the studies mentioned in the appendices which is a nice addition, so if you’re intrigued to learn more, you can simply search the study.

It’s always fascinating to learn more about our bizarre and exceptional brains, how much it has control over and how certain therapies can engage your brain to enable you to change your whole way of thinking. It’s incredible just how much your brain actually does, and Marlin Cluts really opens up new horizons to try, to help increase happiness and change the plasticity of your brain.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone whose interested in anything to do with the brain or the psychology behind it. I will definitely be picking up a copy ASAP!!

This is an enjoyable, easy to read book, Cluts has pulled together a number of concise essays on the workings of the brain, along with plenty of details for further reading. This is certainly not a book for professionals in the area, it doesn't go into enough detail, but for those who have a more than passing interest in our brains, I would highly recommend it as a jumping-off point.

It was a very interesting lecture and even if some of the facts were well known to me since I am using some of the examples in the psychoeducation of some of my patients, it was nice to refresh my memory. For a newbie or a passionate of psychology or how our mind works this book can represent some nice lecture and article recommended for further investigation, study and new interesting topics and experiments to discover.
It was nice to discover some very important books as recommended lectures after each important part of the book. I have already read those books and indeed are very important for everyone who is searching to reach self-awareness and have a better and meaningful life.

Brain Buzzed by Martin Cluts

Wow. This book was a good read.

It has everything. Interesting theories, information about our brain, our happiness, our health, the list goes on. It poses questions for ourselves.
It’s really insightful.
I like the way it is sectioned into 39 segments, which flow from one to another.
It helps to not become one big list of theories and facts.

It’s not too serious and the sections aren’t too long.
But it does offer suggestions for further reading on the different subjects within the different segments, if you would like.
(I will certainly be following some of these up.

I never read books again.
But I will this one as it is so interesting I will take the time to ponder on it.

Well done Martin Cluts.
A very smart and interesting read.

I really enjoyed Brain Buzzed! It was a short read, but packed full of examples and anecdotes which really helped me understand the ideas. I enjoyed the practical advice given by the author and continue to think about many of the 'brain hacks' I learned while reading this book on a day to day basis. For anyone interested in pop-psychology or neuroscience or even self-help, this book is an excellent, worthwhile read. Definitely would recommend to anyone who wants to understand themselves and their brain better!

Brain Buzzed is a good introduction to the world of Psychology an how the brain operates. Not a textbook, it reads more like an extended article in a magazine (I don’t mean that in any negative way). I found the passages easy to read and understand, with examples that are easy to understand. I gave the author some direct feedback too, about diversifying the examples and language, keeping in mind that the reader may identify in any number of ways and to only show one perspective is short sighted. He agreed and has already made changes, which I appreciated. I studied counseling in graduate school and at the time, there were few studies about individuals who were not young white males. Now there are many more and that diversity, in my opinion, ought to be represented. Moving forward, I do anticipate the author continuing to be inclusive. I am also going to share the book with my local HS AP Psych instructor, to consider having as a supplement to the classroom textbook or perhaps to use with non AP psychology classes, to help students learn the concepts in a non intimidating way.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley and have written an objective review.
