Marty is a fun story filled with plenty of humor, action, adventure, and memorable life lessons. It tells the tale of of a spunky bird and her newfound pal, who happens to be a cat named Roger.

Our story begins with Marty dreading the awaited day she’s supposed to finally learn how to fly. She unwillingly starts this newfound journey in life, with the help, or should I say push from her parents. It’s then that she meets the forest cat, Roger. The two hit it off immediately and their journey together begins.

Marty is a very well written attention grabbing book, that I find great for children who are old enough to grasp its beautiful lessons, it’s paced wonderfully. I highly recommend it.

I fell in love with the characters in this book. It's such an uplifting story for children who can read chapter books or to be read to them.

Marty the bird who is afraid to fly is sent on a quest with Ruzo the cat by Elder Oak to The Castle of Light. The Blue Witch has taken over and locked away the king, his family and the royal guard.

This is a lovely book that teaches children that it's okay to take your time to learn, to give it your best and to believe in yourself. When I have grandchildren, I will read this book to them.

I love that this story touches on real life challenges such as finding courage in difficult times and being kind to others. All situations that every child (and adult!) will face. I think that younger readers will enjoy the characters and the story all while learning some valuable lessons through the characters.

Martina Martin (Marty) is a purple martin who has just come of age and is "forced" out of the family nest. Not ready and frightened to try her hand at flight, Marty flounders and literally bumps into Roger Ruzo (Ruzo,) the cat. An unlikely bond forms between them and the pair is chosen by The Elder Oak to embark on a mission to save the Castle of Light and the royal family from the wicked Blue Witch and her minion Lutabeasts.

Marty is a cute story that contains a mix of action, adventure, and a dose of humor. Not only that, it also provides some wise life lessons such as unless you try something, you'll never learn from it. A wonderful book that is not only entertaining, it is also provides some sage advice for the middle grade reader, ages 8 - 12. Five entertaining stars.

I received a digital copy of the book from BooksGoSocial through NetGalley. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.

Princess Fuzzypants here: Marty is a little bird. Ruzo is cat. Together they may an awesome duo of heroes. After the dust of the big battle has cleared, Ruzo is missing and Marty, the King and assorted other friends and allies they meet along the way, all try to find him. But was his capture a ruse to set a trap. As the King and his knights chase after the Blue Witch, thinking she has Ruzo, Marty flies off in a different direction.
As they meet new animals and humans, it is hard to tell who are the good guys. No one has a tougher call than the King who is allying with his sworn enemy who was once his best friend. Is the person with whom he is travelling the evil side or the good side? The King is going to be in big trouble if he calls it wrong.
The story is filled with unlikely but charming characters including an Orangutan and an alligator and an inventor of a flying contraption. It is both exciting and entertaining. It is perfect for the older child either to be read to them or by them. And it has a huge- HUGE- cliffhanger. I am not fond of cliffhangers normally but I may make an exception here.
Five purrs and two paws up.

2nd-4th graders will likely find much to relate to in this story. It's all about friendship, facing fears, being brave... good one to prepare for their futures in middle school. It is an enjoyable read. Lots of fun and interesting animal characters! Just the right amount of magic. Entertaining story line; it would make a nice addition to a collection..

Marty knows today that she must leave the nest. She is to fly from the nest and discover the world. She finds herself on the ground. What happened? She decides that it is safer to walk than fly.. as she walks through the forest, Marty meets a special tree and a cat named Ruzo. They get instructions from the special tree to save the castle of light who has become the prisoner of a rogue blue witch. She wants to control the world and make the people as unhappy as she is. Can Marty and Ruzo save the castle of light?

The beginning of a series is a delightful story. It is about learning not to judge someone different from you, become friends, having hope and learning to deal with problems. Another important lesson is to believe in yourself. This is not blatant but I think that an adult would be aware of these themes in the story. I enjoyed the friendship of Marty and Ruzo. It’s a fun book to read.

Marty's expulsion from home was a jolting and agonizing one called shock. Being unceremoniously pushed out of your home by none other than your mom and dad was never a good thing. Forced into a new way of life on the forest floor, Marty’s journey and explorations led her to the other forest dwellers, where she made new and unique friends along the way.

I really enjoyed reading this children's chapter book, about a bird called Marty and a cat called Ruzo. Marty has just flown from her nest for the first time, and she meets Ruzo and a magical tree. The tree tells them that they must save the Castle of Light, so they go on a big adventure to do just that. Will they be able to get through all of the trials and tribulations in front of them, so that they can save the day?

This is a lovely book with a good story and great characters. Highly recommended!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.
