Description

Charlotte Burnside’s safe, comfortable world is forever changed after she and her two besties witness a mob murder. Now, the only way out is to go into hiding with a former Navy SEAL who terrifies her almost as much as the bad guys. Easton Yates is just so big, so tough, so…distractingly attractive. Posing as newlyweds, the two head to Florida for their “honeymoon.” The boundaries for their fake marriage are clear: Act like a couple in public, but in the privacy of their hotel room, it’s all business. However, it isn’t long before the lines between fake and real begin to blur, and Charlotte finds herself falling for the big guy. But Easton lives in a dangerous world that frightens Charlotte to her core. A world she’s not sure she can be part of…

Easton has never acted on an attraction to any client, but there’s just something about Charlotte that’s threatening to break the promise he made to himself to keep things strictly professional. The woman he thought was completely vulnerable turns out to be tougher than he expected—and far more difficult to resist than he could have imagined. Keeping Charlotte safe is his main concern, but keeping her happy starts to overtake his priorities. He decides he needs her in his life—forever. But with danger swirling all around them, can he convince Charlotte that life with him is what she needs most?

The truth of the matter is she loves her fictional persona, Leslie North, more than her normal, day-to-day persona! Her bestselling books focus on strong characters and particularly women who aren't afraid to challenge an alpha male. Inspired after years of travel, her stories are set all over the world, from the tough streets of Russia to the beautiful beaches of the middle east.

Leslie fell in love with romance when she first picked up a scrappy, dog-eared romance book from her local library. She began writing soon after and the rest, as they say, was history. She now lives in a cozy cottage on the British coast and enjoys taking long walks with her two Dalmatians, George and Fergie.

Protecting His Fake Wife (Aegis Security Book Two) by Leslie North
Publisher: Relay Publishing
Genre: General Fiction (Adult) | Romance
Publication Date: April 29, 2021

Protecting His Fake Wife is the second book in the Aegis Security series by Leslie North and does not disappoint! This can easily be read as a standalone romance or read as part of the series. (I recommend reading the first book, Protecting the Single Mother, because it is just so good!)

I really enjoyed this book! I found the story to be enjoyable. It is filled with suspense, steamy chance romance, adventure, and of course amazing chemistry!

This is a fast read (I read it in a couple of hours) and I couldn't put it down! The story was great. I loved the characters. I love how this book is intertwined with the previous book, but follows a totally different path. I loved the flirtation and the discovery of feelings. There is so much packed into this book and I just couldn't get enough!

Thankfully, the next book in the series, Protecting His Pregnant Partner, will be released on May 6, 2021! I can't wait!!!

I'm so grateful to Leslie North, Relay Publishing, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed reading Easton and Charlotte's story. Charlotte learned early on how to calm him down and act more rational. I can't wait for Holly's story so we can finally see who the murderer is and why.

We are back with the three girlfriends that witnessed the mob kill the ex of one of the ladies. They find protection from the Aegis Security group. A company owned by former SEALs . This time we get Charlotte Burnside’s story and that of her protective fake husband, Easton Yates.
These two fly to Florida to spend time away from the site of the crime and the mob, going undercover as newlyweds.
Easton is overprotective , and with reason. Charlotte’s heart is starting to get involved but her childhood experiences keep her from wanting to see anything beyond the present.
As the danger to them and their friends intensifies, so do the feelings.
In the end , will Easton be able to protect Charlotte and his heart?
This was a great addition to the series. Definitely as stand alone since the author gives the reader a detailed summary of how the three couples end up splitting in order to keep the ladies safe.
I was entrusted a copy of the book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Charlotte and her friends Holly and Nicole witnessed a murder and now their lives are in danger. Charlotte has to go into hiding at a honeymoon resort with Easton, a gruff yet handsome security expert and an ex Seal. He is focused on keeping her safe to the extent that he appears rude and threatening to other resort visitors. After some romantic kayaking time there is a touch of danger and they're on the run again. They both admit their attraction but Charlotte has had an unstable childhood and now she's wondering whether she can handle Easton's dangerous career in the long term.

The villain was rather obvious but I enjoyed this romantic suspense a lot nevertheless.

There are some spoilers for Nicole's book so if you're planning to read the entire series it's best to do it in order I think. I haven't read the first book but I know who the baddie is it now.

I got an ARC from Netgalley and this is a voluntary review.

I would post on Goodreads but I can't find this book in there.

Protecting His Fake Wife is book 2 in Leslie North's Aegis Security Series. I have not read the first book and although you can tell there are overlapping plot points I still had no issue following along. I was easily able to "fill in" what I missed. I would recommend reading these books in order but they could be enjoyed solo. You get the main point from the prologue included at the beginning.

This story focuses on Charlotte and her protector (and fake husband) Easton. These two do not share a past, there is no history and although there is some initial attraction they aren't magically falling into bed right away. Watson being your typical aloha protecting is a big gruff around the edges and hyper-focused on his job. Charlotte is a people person so hiding out and keeping her head down isn't very natural for her. As you can imagine that causes some tension.

I'm not going to give anything away but readers will find this book has action both inside the bedroom and outside it. I didn't find their relationship overpowering the other storyline which was nice.

I wasn't sure if readers were supposed to be surprised by the reveal or just dumbfounded that Easton never clued in until it was staring at him in the face. It seemed obvious, at least to me.

I would like to that NetGalley, the publisher and Leslie North for providing me with a free copy of this story. I am leaving a voluntary honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book. Let me start by saying that I’m now so excited to read the final book in this series because the first two have left me dying to find out how it will all turn out!
Easton and Charlotte gave me everything I love best about a fake relationship story: bringing all the drama, and suspense. I was already invested in the previous book, so it didn’t take much for this story to pull me in and hold me captive. And now I really, really want to know how they resolve the situation. Roll on book 3 is all I can say ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Read!
