A city always has a lot of stories to tell. Stories about its culture, people, freedom, and much more that make it the place it is. But more than tales of literature and liberty a city can have a lot of interesting stories about its people and it is always fascinating to read a book that contains all such engrossing stories about the wonders and events in a city. The book ‘Only In New York 2’ by M.G. Crisci is such a collection of real and lively stories of New York City that celebrates its unique DNA. These are poignant, entertaining, and powerful stories about a Manhattan that is almost gone. Chronicled by a native New Yorker, with 37 original illustrations, ‘Only in New York 2’ is a must-read.

I felt that the book is quite different from the conventional storybooks that contain tales of culture and heritage of the city, with a unique style and type of stories it includes. For example, you will learn how a school's Mascot Ram was accidentally murdered and Why Chiquita Bananas CEO jumped out a 44th Floor window on Park Avenue.

Even though the book has a distinctive genre and wonderful portrayal of events, I felt that the stories are a bit too deviating when it comes to the aspect of culture which always remains the prime factor that makes a city distinct. Also, I felt that the narration styles could have been improved and made a bit more interesting. Despite all these flaws, I felt that the book is worth reading due to the unique collection of stories with all the fascinating elements that can make anyone compulsive to read it.

I usually enjoy movies and readings which reflect a certain city or town spirit. So, as soon as I finished the second volume of “Only in New York” by M.G. Crisci, I could not love it more!

This is not the first book I read from the author, and it certainly will not be the last one. I enjoy his different edges as writer and particularly his “based on true stories” books. Hence, the 37 real and short stories, taking place in New York, absolutely captivated me. I think they perfectly reflect the essence of Manhattan, with the uniqueness of their inhabitants.

As an addition, before each story, there is an original and simple line illustration, that I think totally enriches the reading. It particularly encouraged my imagination and tied me up to delve into each story.

While reading, I found myself in an entertaining emotional journey, since each story is more poignant and depth-in than the previous one. This book surpassed my expectations. I earnestly invite readers to get their own pleasure from all the stories.
