Description

#1 New York Times bestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon returns with Shadow Fallen, a brand-new entry in her Dream-Hunter series.

For centuries, Ariel has fought the forces of evil. Her task was to protect the souls of innocent mortals when they die. Captured by a powerful sorceress, she is transformed into a human who has no memory of her real life or calling.

And is plunked into the middle of the Norman invasion of England.

Cursed the moment he was born with a "demonic deformity," Valteri wants nothing of this earth except to depart it and will do his duty to his king until then. When a strange noblewoman is brought before him, Valteri realizes he has met her before…in his dreams. When others come for her, bringing with them preternatural predators, he is faced with a destiny he had no idea was waiting. One he wants no part of.

The truth is that Valteri isn’t just a knight of William the Conqueror. He is the son of one of the deadliest powers in existence, and if he doesn’t restore Ariel to her place, she is not the only one who will be in peril. The world itself hangs in the balance, and he is the necessary key to hold back the powers of evil. But only if he can find a way to work with the woman who stands for everything in the universe he hates.

I am so happy that Sherrilyn Kenyon is back, and so excited to jump back into this ever evolving and intertwined world!!
We have a warrior who is hated by everyone, and is contantly being used by his brother for his own gain.. He has a tragic backstory,I mean TRAGIC... and all he secretly wants and hopes for is someone to love him. When Ariel appears and seems to actual like him, and doesn't run away he has no idea what to do... I loved watching them fall in love, and when some of my other favorite characters make an appearance it was just icing on the cake..

Voltari is a man hated by pretty much everyone except his squire. He has spent his days conquering the English for his brother William, and now all he wants to do is be given the money is was promised and leave England behind forever.. Well fate has other plans..
Ariel is an immortal being that escorts the souls of the dead to their final destination, when an old woman curses her to be human for taking her sons soul, and she ends up with no memory well things are going from bad to worse.

Thankfully Ariel ends up at Ravenswood, Voltaris home, and while she is struggling with her memory she can tell that Voltari is actually has a marshmellow center. He has adopted a little cross-eyed kitten and named her Cecile (which will now be the name of my next kitty) and even though he suspects betrayal around every corner (he has good reasons for that) he starts to trust Ariel... When the truth of how Ariel ended up earthbound and the truth of the curse come out, Ariel and Voltari have to work extra hard to figure out a way to stop it..

Sherrilyn Kenyon/McQueen is one of my all time favorite authors and I can't wait to see whats going to happen next for out dark/dream hunters!!

Ariel a sentinel of the highest order becomes a target of evil forces. Valteri has been the subject of horror stories and adversaries nightmares for years. The Fates conspire to deliver Ariel to Valteri in the form of a beauty so fair he has a hard time breathing a clash of gods is the only solution, or is it? If ever there was doubt that Kenyon would return to pure form, this will quiet the doubt and hopefully add to her legion of fans.

I haven't read a shadow hunter book before but clearly it's a series I need to start reading. This was true Kenyon writing and reminded me of her original Dark-hunter books. Loved the story, so well done! Can't wait for the next!!

I do love these books. The detail and actions that give you the ability to seem like you are involved with the story and characters. Those are the best ones to read the richness of the story and fine details that keep you coming back for more.

A cursed being, a curse itsekf, and an Arel who has it the worse? That would be the one attempting to inflict the damage. Due to a vengeance a old crown placed a curse on an Arel who now has no memory. An abused warrior is the soul she feels most akin to do she attaches herself there no realizing she could cause more harm than good.

Extended family show up some for mischief, some support. She has to find her way back but her heart wants to stay. Will her heart win? Does she break the curse? Will she find peace and love that is forbidden to her kind? Can she sooth the beast inside the damaged warrior?

Join the cast to get your answers as Sherrylynn weaves her magic and brings to life a defining story that will have you wanting to help the Arel and warrior. You may even want to take pity on a demon not worthy most times. This medieval take weaves into your soul to bring unimaginable pleasure through great characters and story telling.

It is so good to see Sherrilyn Kenyon back! And the book did not disappoint. We got everything we want in a Sherrilyn Kenyon book the wit, the romance, and the suspense of the Dream-Hunters world. I can't wait to read more and so glad to see Sherrilyn Kenyon rise like a Phoenix after everything she has gone through.

All I can say is the Queen is Back! I was just starting a reread in anticipation of the long awaited “Munro” when I was lucky enough to receive this ARC. I was a little anxious because it felt like I was skipping ahead, but this book can be read as a stand alone. Wonderful story, great characters, a bit of steam (after tremendous longing and build-up!), and all the great mythology one would expect from Sherrilyn Kenyon. And Acheron (plus Simi!) get to cameo … I couldn’t ask for more.

It has been awhile since I have read one of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter or Dream Hunter novels. Shadow Fallen did not disappoint at all. Valteri and Ariel both have to over come obstacles to be together and as always Sherrilyn has the gods and goddesses interfering with the humans so the obstacles can seem undefeatable. But they pull through and a the appearance of one of my favorite Dark Hunters and his adopted daughter at the end was great!

Thank you Netgalley and TOR Books for the chance to read an advanced copy of Shadow fallen by Sherrilyn Kenyon. As it has been a long wait for any books from the author (through no fault of hers), I really wanted to read this right away. I am a big Dark Hunter and League fan, and basically devoured this book. I loved it, and once I got into the book realized why these two characters were introduced into the series. Shadow fallen had the perfect balance of new insight to the Dark hunter characters we have known and loved, and introducing us to new characters like Valteri and Ariel. I like the chemistry between them, and the humour from secondary characters we know from previous books. Hopefully we will not have to wait too long for the next books in the series!
Anyone reading this book as a stand alone will enjoy it, but may be confused by some of the background and characters as the Dark Hunter series as a whole is quite large! Take your time and read the series!!!!

Sherrilyn Kenyon is one of my favorite authors and she is also my auto buy author, plus she is also my comfort author. I read her books when I need a little comfort in my life. It felt so good to be back in the world of the hunters. Shadow Fallen had me guessing through out the whole book and I loved that. It is now in my top three favorite Sherrilyn's books. I recommend this book to my mom who also loves the hunters.

Valteri: Lets the world see the dark side of him that they think is the true side but he has a lighter side that is really him. You can see that side when he is with his squire Wace and the crossed eyed kitten name Cecilia. Then when Ariel shows up. He is one of my favorite heroes.

Ariel: I absolutely loved Ariel and she is one of my favorite heroin. She could have given up but she kept fighting, that is something I still struggle with. She showed Valteri that is more to him then meets that eye. She also showed him that he isn't the demonspawn that he was told he was.

I can't wait to read more from Sherrilyn.

Thank you Netgalley, Tor Books and Sherrilyn Kenyon for letting read and review Shadow Fallen

Ariel helps and protects people’s souls as they crossover. A woman curses her and she becomes human with no recollection of her past. Ariel’s curse is to love someone and have them die in her arms. She is put right in the middle of when the Normans invaded England. Valteri is the half brother of the ruling King. He has been demonized since the day he was born with his two different eye colors. Valteri is ready for his time to come to an end. He tries his best to push Ariel away but she is stubborn and have no plans of leaving him. But several want Valteri dead and they’ll stop at nothing.

I’ll be honest I was terrible confused at time. They both want each other but are constantly pushing each other away. There is fighting and a little lovin’.

I was provided an arc in exchange for an honest review via netgalley.

It's been a long time since a new book in the dark hunter series was released. I feared this would fall short of the usual epic standards but by god it exceeded it.

Shadow fallen was filled with more info of the dark hunter world, answering a couple of questions about certain characters, the storyline was amazing and the characters were really well suited to each other. I love how the olde English language was combined with modern terms as well. The comedy from a couple of characters was sensational and had me giggling.

The guest character at the end had me squealing.

Loved this book!!!

This new novel by Sherrilyn is a new era opened up in her writing. This new story introduces so many new interesting characters while still tying into some old favourites. It’s unique on its own and doesn’t feel like anything she has written before. The romance is a lovely slow burn with so many twists, turns and angst. It was a wonderful read for anyone who is in love with her novels as I am! I couldn’t put it down and read it in it’s entirety in one night. Her female character as always is very empowered even through her struggles and her male character is ever troubled with an in-depth back story. It is one of my new favourites!

Wow, I loved this book! I loved being in this world (thank you to everyone involved for sticking around her while she was dealing with her ex!) again, and I loved getting to know these characters! Of he who had a horrendous childhood, though of as a the son of a demon, her being a supernatural being who was cursed and then having her memories taken, well, they have an interesting dynamic, because she's not scared of him.

This is the first time we've had this setting in this world. Sure, the Lords of Avalon series is part of this world, but that's well before when this book was set, which is around 1066 or after, since Valteri's brother, Willian, was crowned then, and King Arthur was a legend at the time (and while the Lords of Avalon series has time travel, it's got it's home base in medieval, after the fall of King Arthur times.) So that was fun to read!

I loved watching these two fall in love. They both had reasons why they shouldn't, and her "brother" didn't help matters. And watching them either face their fears, or deal with the problems they faced, was just a really great adventure! I just loved how they changed this world, just by being here, and I can't wait to see what, if any, part they'll play in the future of this series! After all, a certain character does make an appearance! Not to mention some of the other characters who pop up!

Valteri has an interesting dad, and I'm not sure what we previously knew, because there's a lot of moving parts to this world, so I'll try and say this without spoilers. But I have a question. Shadow's mom is Azure, and one of Valteri's brothers through their father has Azure as his mom. Wouldn't that be the same kind of pairing of light and dark that caused the Primus Bellum in the first place. (Apollymi is Braith, right? We learned that in the Chronicles of Nice, learning about the Malachai? Or that's what we're meant to believe, at least?)

Other question I have is, why is this part of the Dream-Hunter series specifically? Because these aren't the group of Dream-Hunters as previously shown in the series, as far as I can remember. I'd more put it in another one of the specific series. Which means either Valteri's dad is connected to the Dream-Hunters, or somehow Ariel is. But I don't know!

Loved this book, and I can't wait to continue the series now that the pieces are all picked up and she's getting into her writing groove!

With our hero and heroine both stubborn and strong. Taking us back to castles and swords. As our couple fights for their love as well as their lives. With new friends and old. If you have read any dark hunter books the tie ins from past stories keep you on the edge of your seat! While the story is just fine on its own I am ready to go back and read all the books again. It’s filled with evil plots and smart ass demons. Because who doesn’t love a little dark humor. It wouldn’t be a DH novel without a dark past to over come. And what better to help you but love. I really have missed the dark hunter world. This book didn’t disappoint.

“Shadow Fallen” by Sherrilyn Kenyon is a Dream Hunter novel set during the first Norman king of England’s reign. A little history with paranormal fantasy-romance makes this next installment a good book to relax with after a long day.
The hero, Valteri “the godless”, has lived a brutal, cursed life in a world where if you are born different you are labeled as evil and a demon. He has no trust in anyone until Ariel, the heroine, is dropped into his life. He believes Ariel is the one he sees in his battlefield dreams.
Ariel is vengefully cursed to live as a human with no memory of her other worldly life as a warrior protecting the souls of the battle fallen from being taken by evil. Only until the one she loves dies in her arms will the curse be broken. From the first, she looks at Valteri as if he is her savior.
Valteri and Ariel are each more than what they seem and so much a like. Both warriors in their own rights. Each wanting to do what they feel is right to protect the other, almost to the extreme.
Both must find a way to help the other to overcome the evil that wants to tear them apart before the world they are living in is turned to darkness.
New supporting characters, good and evil, and old friends from previous stories make this story a fun read for Kenyon fans, but the story can be read as a standalone for someone new to her series.

Nothing I say will ever give this book justice. Reading this book felt like coming home. Ive been waiting to have a new book in this series for years. And I am so beyond excited I was fortunate to read this book so early. I have follow Kenyon for years though all of her trials and I am happy that she came out the other side. I can not wait for more Dark Hunter, Dream Hunter, Were Hunter and more! If you are a die hard fan you will fall for this book within the first page!
