Description
Master the art of the start with this new way of thinking, with exercises to help you unleash your ideas and create more.
In Start More Than You Can Finish, writer, artist, and entrepreneur Becky Blades offers a powerful new mindset for our modern world: acting on more ideas makes us happier – and reveals our highest creativity. She empowers readers to become "stARTists"-- initiators with a bias for action and the courage to ignite ideas--and introduces the concept of "stARTistry," spotlighting the 4-step changemaking process we all use to subconsciously start:
- Imagine
- Think
- Decide
- Act
Using digestible data, humorous and honest personal experience, interviews with artists and entrepreneurs, and assignments to help you get started, Start More Than You Can Finish challenges the tropes our dads, moms, and third-grade teachers told us about finishing. In today's world, we must, in fact, start more than we can finish.

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I believe it will be
GREAT FOR BOOK CLUBS: Inspired by a webinar, featuring chapters-as-questions, this book is primed for book clubs. The organization lends itself perfectly to discussion—clubs can pose each question/chapter title, review the thought prompts, and share personal experiences for an enlightening, educational, and productive conversation.
4 stars
Ironically, I’ve started this book several times and can’t seem to finish it. It’s encouraging and boldly formatted with large text, bolden quotes and splashes of lime green throughout. The advice is to start all kinds of things— art, books, businesses, projects, etc for all kinds of great reasons and not to care about finishing. Also gives advice for starting, keeping up with it and (I assume) finishing. It’s fun and inspirational with lots of stories and lists, but I found myself wanting to skip to the end. It’s a great premise that I’m not sure needed a whole book but it was stretched well.
I read a self-destroying digital arc for review.
