Description

Alison was just a little girl when she had her life taken from her. And for as much as all the things she lost, her family lost just as much.

Her father, John can't live with himself since it was him that lost her in the first place and now that his son has turned up dead, he has given in to rage, making himself out of touch while his wife suffers daily because of it. She too has had to find other ways to give purpose to her days.

She has lost two of her three children and the only one left, Erik, is facing the possibility of prison for the death of his own brother. Before they had moved out west to Idaho to start over after the tragedy with Alison they thought their lives were rather normal. But it's the denial that has made them believe this.

Their lives are falling apart slowly and as the truth comes to light it's shocking they have made it this far. It's the lies, the affair, the murder that try do ruin them. But some survive, and are given another chance at their life and to be happy and feel loved.

This is a story of how grace can save us from ourselves.

Advance Praise

A Christian-themed murder mystery, His Name is Grace by H.G. Davis is an absorbing tale of betrayal, deception, revenge, and redemption.

Still grieving the violent murder of their four-year-old daughter, Allison, seventeen years before, Lorraine and John Steads are now reeling from more unthinkable grief: their son Erik is in jail accused of killing his brother, Mat, while they were on their annual elk hunting trip. Erik swears it was an accident and that he only fired once, but when police find two bullet holes in Mat, his death comes under investigation.

As the search for the truth ensues, additional mysteries pile up: what accounts for John Steads’ inexplicable hatred for his son, Erik? What secrets is John’s brother Ryan, who served ten years in prison for trying to avenge Allison’s death, trying to protect? How are two wealthy, privileged high school best friends involved? And where is the place that Lorraine’s true heart resides? Each question builds on the last, for a multilayered and compelling story that starts off quick and never lets up the momentum.

While the novel works as an engaging and well-constructed mystery, it deserves a thorough proofread to remove the pervasive grammatical errors and abrupt tense shifts, which consistently disrupt the flow of the action. Overall, the novel is a cleverly plotted family drama with unexpected twists, so despite the issues with editing, the story keeps readers intrigued and turning the pages, from the ominous opening to the faith-inspired end.

Thanks!

Such a sad story of mixed up families with skewed priorities. But also a reminder of how God's grace is all sufficient and encompassing.
