This book has been so inspiring and I am going to re-read it. I actually purchased a physical copy so I can go through and highlight it. It has already had an impact in my life by really helping me to re-evaluate what I want out of life and what I want to achieve. I've been listening to Terri's podcasts for years and I am so excited to seeing the results of what this book can and will help me do in my life.

I love how interesting the book is. It's not boring at all and if you wanted you could read it quickly over a weekend. However, I do not recommend reading it that fast. I recommend reading a chapter a day and applying what you learn immediately. Don't put it off. This book has awakened dreams that I thought were dead in my life. Things I've always loved doing and wanted to do for many years. If you are looking for something that can not only motivate you but will also encourage you this is the perfect book. It's positive, uplifting and of course very motivating.

I'm looking forward to creating my vision board and accomplishing each goal. I can't wait to re-read this book so I can really get it in me and incorporate the advice into my daily routine. I've already started but I know after doing even more I will see even more of a result in my life.

Quite an interesting insight into what it takes to be successful. I left with a few ideas and habits that I might like to experiment with.

A good book on the importance of "Alone Time" in growing spiritually and focusing/working on your dreams/goals. The author relates her personal experiences and shares the discipline and work we need to do to change our lives and obtain our goals and dreams. We work privately for the achievements seen publicly. Life requires work and participation. Even calling/seeking God requires you to be a participant and be active.

I have read a lot books and this one was beyond encouraging! I am going through a difficult season and I have felt so inspired and motivated. Absolutely love this book.

I wasn't sure this book was for me when I started reading, but as I'd got it I preserved. I am so grateful. I know God has his hand on my life and he is watching me constantly. I am grateful of the reminder that everything I do is seen by God and acknowledged and that God loves me so much. Its been very helpful as I have experienced isolation because illness to know God sees my pain and draws me to himself, holding me close in that safe place at home.

I found tremendous motivation and support in this book. There are many passages I underlined, and verses that really resonated for me. I even ended up buying a new notebook to write down some of the lines that were really powerful for me.
My Jan'24 had me on unsure footing, and reading this book helped me work through some of my anxiety and have more hope as I approach the rest of the year, and frankly, Life!
She has shared her own experiences, and those of other well-known figures, and the stories are not the popular ones, but those that were more grounding in the point she is making.
While I am not a Christian, I feel that if I could attend lectures and talks by Terri, even if that meant waking up early on Sundays, I'd do it!
This book is added to be re-read, or just go back and read my highlights and notes.

Terri Savelle Foy has done it again. Her teachings are so practical and straight forward, that it makes for such a quick read. Typically nonfiction or teaching books take me 2 or 3 times longer than fiction books—more if the book is dull. But not with this book. I finished the whole thing in 10 days….which is lightning speed for me with a nonfiction book. I highlighted so many nuggets of truth. Not only does this book make you realize the importance of alone, quiet time to think, hear yourself (and God) speak, pray and sometimes even just be. But it also gives you practical ways to make it happen, that aren’t just wake up at the crack of dawn (because that’s usually the solution I come to myself). I love how she highlights the importance of investing in yourself so that you can invest in your dream and in others. She makes it relatable by weaving in her own personal stories with the origin stories of many celebrities or successful people that we may or may not have heard and shows how they used these same practical principles to reach the success goals they have achieve. She just makes it seem not only possible but plausible…with the help of God of course!

My only draw back to the book is the title. The Alone Advantage (as well as the beautiful cover) is a title I love, but that’s because I really love the idea of being alone. I could walk in to a restaurant and eat a whole meal by myself and love it. However, the introduction and much of the book talks about how the author hated being alone and talks with the audience like they do too. But someone who thinks that being alone is not appealing doesn’t seem like they would pick up a book called The Alone Advantage if they never wanted to be alone. Me on the other hand, loving being alone, didn’t feel represented in the idea that anyone might actually enjoy being alone and cherish that time but just not feel like they can find enough of it. She gives a lot of practical ways to make time to be alone, but doesn’t talk to those of us who actually enjoy that time. It didn’t bother me so much, but I already like it and I get where she was coming from…but it seems like the audience for the book would not connect with the title so much. IMO.

Five stars nonetheless because that’s what the content deserves!!

Excellent book on the importance of "Alone Time" in growing spiritually and otherwise. The author chronicles her own time of going through a rough patch and having to do some hard work on her soul all by herself. This book spoke to me. As much as people need other people to help through life, we also need time to knuckle down and find more self discipline, form important new habits, and discern out next calling.

This book is unabashedly from a Christian perspective, and I appreciated how the author framed her messages within this framework. However, the author gives the reader some practical advice, too: clean up your house, clear out clutter, devote some time each day to housework. Though few of us want to hear this advice, many of us need to hear it. Sometimes, it's the little things that make a difference in how well we function and are able to move forward.

Highly recommended for those going through a rough patch.

The Alone Advantage by Terri Savelle Foy was such a smooth read. Unlike some personal development books, this one was very easy to breeze through without losing it's thought provoking points and guidance. She discusses step by step how to break up your alone time in bite-size chunks to be the most productive you.

The power of solitude, necessary to supercharge our best selves. That's the main takeaway I got from this book. Some practical tips I'm taking away include creating routine, daydreaming, and using a 20-minute timer. This book had quite a bit more Christian spirituality than I had realized, but that's on me for not noticing the categorization. "Most people have all this pain and self-hatred deep within them and because they've never processed that pain, they need to structure their life to be busy always doing things...." and that being alone can be scary..."hard and uncomfortable, but that's where you grow." This book convinced me to want to spend intentional alone time - past lockdown and past living alone, but putting real intentionality and self-compassion into it. Thanks for the ARC!
