Always Think of Me is the debut novel of Lori Keesey, and a compelling read. Do you have a lost love? The one that got away? This story follows TC’s journey to rediscovering this person in his life. Finding Ginny again teaches him all about second chances, and how they often don’t fit into neat little boxes.
Written in a combination of present day and one year ago, TC and Ginny’s story walks readers through the weight of seemingly simple choices, the pain of missed opportunities and the power of hindsight.
Allegory isn’t for everyone, but Keesey employs the literary style like a pro. She uses the story to reveal a deeper message about love and forgiveness, and how the two aren’t predictable. This story is told both carefully and cleverly, with expert pacing as little pieces of TC and Ginny’s story are revealed. The outcome? A fuller picture of why the two aren’t together, despite some very strong feelings.
For readers who like a slower build, almost like reading a chess game as the story unravels strategically, Always Think of Me is recommended. The audiobook is also a fun listen, with bestselling author James L Rubart as the expert narrator.
