Be Held By Him: Finding God When Life Knocks You Off Your Feet by Karen Brough is such a gem!! The author is what I call a truth-teller: she allows herself to be vulnerable and openly shares her story and experiences, good and bad, in hopes that they may be of service to others.
Who hasn't been knocked off their feet by life? Who hasn't ever questioned why something is happening, or been angry at God? This devotional is one that I found very easy to relate to and it has quickly become one of my favorites to turn to.
Ms. Brough writes so honestly, and there's such a gentleness about her. Each devotional entry contains some of the author's personal story, Scripture, My Father's Heart (which is like a letter or poem written from God to the reader) and ends with a prayer.
I love everything about this devotional and recommend it highly. I intend to gift it to others and return to it again and again.

For anyone going through a tough diagnosis or illness, this book is for you! The author gives us an intimate look at what she experienced with process of her diagnosis and her journaling with God as He spoke with her. This is the first in a series of three: I will definitely go back and read the other two. There is something profound in her writings that everyone needs to hear; such as taking time to slow down.

The book “Be Held By Him” has a great subtitle, “Written by a very natural girl and a supernatural God”. Author Karen Brough’s book is an inspirational devotional book, highlighted by a her love for God, her faith in His mighty power and love, and her beautiful strength that enabled her to love and minister to others, even as she battles for her health. The author shares about her physical ailments, and shares many precious Bible verses and prayers.
I was very moved by this book, and I highly recommend it, especially for those who are struggling with problems. While I read it all at once, so I could prepare a timely review, I recommend that readers use this book as a daily devotional, as there is much to glean from the wisdom of this book. Many thanks to the author and Books Go Social. This is my honest review.
