Description

Discover a faith that goes beyond doubt and reveals how God continues to fulfill his promises today just as he did in biblical times, unlocking true purpose and fulfillment in our busy, modern lives.

Where is the life God promised us?

In the midst of our fast-paced schedules and endless distractions, we often push God to the background, struggling to believe that his promises are still relevant. He seems distant, and the abundant life Jesus spoke about doesn't seem possible. When we hear that God wants to give, say, and show us more, we assume it's just a rumor. But what if God really is calling us to something more--a life of deeper purpose, fulfillment, and peace today and right now?

In Rumors of God, Jon Tyson and Darren Whitehead challenge us to reimagine what it means to live a life shaped by faith. They invite us to close the gap between the promises we've heard and the reality we experience, helping us see how God's presence and power are at work even in our modern, everyday lives.

This book is more than a reminder--it's a call to rediscover a God who is active, present, and moving among us. For those feeling weary, jaded, or uncertain about how faith fits into today's world, Rumors of God offers a fresh perspective on God's timeless promises.

Discover a faith that goes beyond doubt and reveals how God continues to fulfill his promises today just as he did in biblical times, unlocking true purpose and fulfillment in our busy, modern lives.

I really loved this book! Each chapter defines a rumor and takes you on a journey which really opened my eyes to truly loving AND serving others. It is filled with God's truth from His Word and I loved how we can make practical applications in our every day life. It reminded me that God is still the same today as he was before creation. He is the the Almighty of the past, present, and future. It convicted me to walk more closely with the Lord and mirror my walk after His. It brought to mind Luke 6:27: "But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and good, and sends rain on the righteous and unrighteous." This verse calls for loving even those who are difficult or who have wronged us. The lost, broken, and hopeless still deserve our love and service if we are meant to follow Jesus. Thank you to Darren, Jon, and NetGalley for an arc of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

Such a wonderful back and forth between two men who clearly are passionate about God! Love the intermix of personal stories and applications as it makes it more relatable for the rest of us who maybe don't have as deep of a theological knowledge base.

This book reignited something in me — a hunger for revival and a deeper walk with God. Whitehead and Tyson write with conviction, weaving together Scripture, personal stories, and spiritual challenge. It reminds you that the rumors of what God can do are real and still happening. A stirring and motivating read for anyone longing to see faith come alive again.

This is an encouraging and thought-provoking book. One of the things I appreciated most was the storytelling throughout the book. The authors include many real-life examples of people encountering God and living out their faith in ordinary situations, which made the ideas feel relatable and grounded.

The chapter on forgiveness particularly stood out to me. It helpfully clarifies that forgiveness does not necessarily mean reconciliation or restoring a relationship to what it once was. Instead, the focus is on the freedom that comes from letting go, and choosing to extend the same grace that God has shown us. But also loved the chapter on how individualistic we are in today's society, such an important chapter!

I also enjoyed the quotes and insights from other Christian thinkers woven throughout the book, which added depth and helped connect the authors’ ideas with the wider Christian tradition.
