Description
Please note: This is an original audio program and not structured as an ebook.
An original audio program that can help open the portal to your creative wellsprings with the life-changing insights of the Enneagram.
Creativity is such a fundamental part of human life. It’s the unseen force behind every story we’ve told, every problem we’ve solved, and every future we’ve dreamed into being. Yet so often we find ourselves struggling to tap into the generative creative instinct that is our birthright. “The Enneagram, an ancient tool of self-understanding, is helpful because it opens up portals to our creative wellsprings,” says Russ Hudson. “And when we let it in, it can radically change our lives.”
In Creativity and the Enneagram, leading Enneagram scholars Russ Hudson and Catherine R. Bell share an in-depth audio program for awakening and cultivating your inner innovator. They offer a riveting exploration of how the nine personality types approach the work and wonder of creativity, with a rich blend of theoretical insight and practical guidance to help you enliven your creative personality and process. Across these immersive sessions—each enriched with nourishing guided meditations from Catherine Bell—you’ll explore:
- A deep dive into each of the nine points’ unique approaches to the challenge of creativity
- A new understanding of the way you solve problems, navigate relationships, and relate to your unique trajectory through life
- The importance of identifying your natural talents as well as recognizing potential roadblocks and barriers
- How to live through your center and become a powerful conduit for creative impulse
- Useful elements from each of the nine points that will help you continue to grow and flourish for years to come
“When we’re grounded with our heart and mind and living through our centers, we can drop more into the level of human consciousness in which these archetypes and energies exist,” says Hudson. “That creativity might come out as a work of art, but it might come out in a creative conversation or helpful advice for a friend—revealing your individual brilliance along the way.”

This was very insightful information! The audiobook played more like a podcast and while I get the point of starting “out of order” with 8 I would consider going in order for an audio for easier continuity.

3.5⭐️
This was a fascinating listen. I’ve long been interested in the Ennegram and have known my type since my early teens (thanks mum & dad!). Also as someone more analytical than creative I wasn’t sure whether this would have resonated with me, but it did! It discusses the energies of the creative process, and how to harness and help your creativity, there was a lot of content but there was also a lot of insight, analysis, information, practical advice and anecdotes which was really helpful. This is definitely worth a listen to, however I think the book (when published) will be invaluable, it will be a “handbook” you’ll be able to consult from time to time. I really enjoyed the podcast kind of format to it, it made it feel spontaneous and natural. The approximate 15 minute introduction to the Enneagram was a great recap, and each type got approximately 45-50 minutes of talk time which I felt was the exact right amount of time - if much shorter there wouldn’t have been enough detail and if too much longer it would have been too long. Loved that this was presented by individuals with impeccable credentials in this space, Russ Hudson and Catherine R. Bell!

I've been obsessed with enneagrams for quite some time and I really liked how this book broke down what they are and the different types but I think I realized that I don't really care about any of the other enneagrams but mine or that of people very close to me so if I couldn't picture a person that was a certain type, it took a while to get through that part of the book. Overall very good and in depth book though!

Creativity and the Enneagram is a unique and insightful listen that explores how each Enneagram type can access and expand their creative potential—not by comparing who is “most creative,” but by honoring the distinct strengths and challenges inherent to each type.
The audiobook begins with a brief yet helpful overview of the nine Enneagram types and their core centers (head, heart, or gut). From there, it transitions into an in-depth exploration of each type’s relationship to creativity, offering thoughtful reflections on how to move beyond blocks and into inspired flow. This content is rich, especially for those already familiar with their Enneagram number and foundational concepts.
It’s important to note that this isn’t a traditional audiobook in the polished sense. The content feels more like a recorded workshop or Zoom session, complete with background noises and a more casual, unedited audio quality. While this may be off-putting to some listeners, the value lies in the depth and perspective of the material itself.
If you know your type and are looking for a more nuanced, practical understanding of how to work with your creative energy, Creativity and the Enneagram offers plenty of food for thought—just be prepared for a less-than-studio experience in terms of production.

Creativity and the Enneagram by Russ Hudson and Catherine R. Bell is a focused dive into each of the enneagram numbers and how or what creativity looks like in each of those numbers specifically. I always chuckle when the inevitable happens, they start with 8, because they want their stuff and they move on. I thought it was intriguing how Catherine started each 'chapter' with a meditation to get you focused on what is to come and how Russ brings in modern day examples of some really famous people, but not just naming them, but why he believes they are with precise specifics of whatever stated number the focus is on and what that looks like. As one who is interested in the enneagram, I found this to be extremely helpful of what my roadblocks can be, but also how to move past them to be able to tap into that creativity. Very informative and Highly recommend! Also note: this isn't set up like a typical audiobook, but more like a podcast-type setting. Still love it.
