Description

Being made in God’s image can be a hard concept for children to fully grasp, but The Glorious Image of God explains how, through the story of Jesus, we can learn to see God’s reflection within ourselves and foster a deeper sense of spiritual identity and self-worth. From ministry leader and children’s book author Rousseaux Brasseur, this masterfully woven, rhyming text dives into stories from the Bible unpacking what it means to be an image bearer of God, helping us to better understand how we can share God’s love and goodness with others in our lives.

Every human being is a wonderful work of art, made in God’s image and capable of reflecting God’s goodness and light to others. The Glorious Image of God is a fun exploration of the story of how God wove his likeness into us humans, where our purpose comes from, and how Jesus reflects who God made you to be. This picture book for kids 4 and up is designed to help grow children’s foundation of faith, guiding them to understand how they reflect the image of God and how God delights when his children fill the world with his love.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this advanced reader copy of The Glorious Image of God, in exchange for an honest review.

“God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male female he created them.” Gen 1:27

The Glorious Image of God written by Rousseaux Brasseur, is a beautifully illustrated picture book that helps explain an important truth from the Bible. Getting children to understand how they are created in Gods image can be a tough concept for littles to grasp. In this story, a teacher gives the students a memory verse, and she goes on to explain it by using an example of a mirror. It’s full of bright and colorful illustrations to keep the Childs attention. It also uses modern day scenes to help it be relatable and teaches how Jesus can reveal this truth. I thought the author and illustrator did an excellent job sharing this lesson. Perfect for young ones bedtime, church classroom setting, read aloud or Sunday school. Would recommend.

This book, The Glorious Image of God, is a delightful book geared for young people with a message for all people. The message of God’s Word that says every person - no matter what they look like, sound like, or are able to do - is made to be an image bearer of God. Each one of us is created in His image! What a beautiful and comforting thought! So often we judge others or ourselves unfairly. But God made each of us to shine our Light for Him all over the world. This story not only teaches that valuable truth, but it also walks the reader through the salvation story starting with God creating the world. The illustrations are beautifully done and would be appealing to children. The text is poetic, but still easy for young people to understand. God’s Truth is clearly presented. I highly recommend this book!

This is a much needed message for kids - you are made in the image of God and, because of that truth, you have inherent worth. I also appreciate the Gospel message clearly weaved throughout the book and how that impacts our lives as image bearers. The rhyme scheme is lovely and the images are beautiful. I also appreciate the diversity in the people represented in the illustrations.

This book teaches children how all creation--and especially mankind--is made in God's image. It also recaps the stories of creation AND salvation (Jesus' death and resurrection) through thoughtful storytelling and beautiful illustrations.

I would recommend it for families with children ages 4 to 8 years.

The Glorious Image of God will be published November 4, 2025.

Thank you to NetGalley, Zonderkidz, Rousseaux Brasseur (author), Arief Putra (illustrator) for this free, advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book managed to capture the Gospel in a way that kids can understand. It covers the beginning of sin to the salvation at the cross. It also covers your true identity as someone made in the image of God. These are some pretty serious topics, but handled in a child-friendly way.

The book has beautiful illustrations. The pages are filled with color and emotion. There is plenty for little ones to explore in each piece of art.

The book flows well and has an enjoyable rhythm. Children will enjoy the way this book almost reads like a song.

I love how this book made serious topics so easy for children to grasp. It was a pleasure to read.

I am so thankful for the opportunity to read and appreciate those who have read this review.

God bless,

Amanda McDowell

Oh my, what an EXCELLENT storybook for young believers! The message of how God made mankind in His image was perfectly carried out! We are His MASTERPIECES. My sons were completely drawn into this story, at times leaning in closer as to not miss a word! There were moments of tension when Adam and Eve fell into sin, when mankind chose to worship idols, or when Jesus died on the cross. And then, there were moment of glory, when Jesus rose from the grave to become our Savior. The lyrical and rhyming prose flowed seamlessly, keeping my kids wholly engaged! It was simple yet rhythmic! The illustrations were delightfully bright and beautiful! I love how the illustrator used a flowing blue mist/waves to symbolize the Holy Spirit throughout story. Very impressed by this book! We plan to add a physical copy to our home library and to give a more copies as gifts!
