Lorie Kauffman is grief-stricken when her father passes away unexpectedly. But her heartache quickly turns to bewilderment when she discovers he’d been leading two lives—one of simplicity and hard work in Wells Landing, and one fraught with painful ordeals in Tulsa. As she starts digging into her family’s past, Lorie finds herself torn between the Amish world and the Englisch world—and she’s no longer certain where she belongs…

Lorie knows that if she leaves Wells Landing, she may never be able to return. But what if her destiny lies in the outside world—the world her father knew so well? Although I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Lorie and the people in her life along her sometimes tumultuous journey, I felt some parts of the book were redundant and repetitive. At times I was surprised by the turn of events, and I fell in love with the seniors at table 8. I'm very much looking forward to reading Amy's next book!

As I sit down to read this book I was pleasantly surprised to find myself reading a Amish mystery romance. It was such a delightful read!

Amy Lillard, kept me on my toes with this one as I tried to make up Lorie's Heart for her. The feelings of grieve, compassion, betrayal, and love were described so perfectly, I felt them too. Along with the indecision's and the mystery, I was up half the night reading.

I admired Lorie for her strength and determination to find out the truth. Then she took that truth and decided (with God's help) what was best for her.

This book reminded me that we all take a different amount of time to grieve. That grieve also can linger, when the person who passes was not who you thought they were.

This book was given to me by the author in exchange for my honest review.

I read this book in less than 24 hours. I couldn't put it down! This book made me stay up late and wake up early to finish it because I HAD to know how it ended! Thank you, thank you Amy Lillard and Net Galley for allowing me to read this advanced e-reader. I LOVED IT SO MUCH the Wells Landing series just keeps getting better and better. It wonderfully well written and again, I love that its a fresh and new idea to Amish Christian fiction. I loved Lorie' and her family and my heart ached for her at the loss of her father and the confusion and turmoil that came with it. I won't go into too much more because I am afraid my excitement will give way to spoilers. So to summarize, this book is unique and amazing and I am so happy I was privileged enough to read it
