A winter storm knocks the power out at Caillou's house. Caillou is confused when the lights don’t work. But soon the evening turns into an indoor camping adventure, complete with marshmallows roasted in the fireplace. Caillou is especially delighted when he gets to sleep by the hearth in his sleeping bag.

When the power goes out at Caillou's house he is frightened. He does not know what has happened. Dad goes upstairs to get him and they travel to the basement to get the flashlights using candles. Dad makes it a fun experience for him so he is not scared. Mom cooks dinner on the fire in the fireplace and the family sleeps in sleeping bags on the living room floor by the fire. What a great way to help children who are afraid of storms especially when the power goes out ant they are frightened in the dark. Once again, the illustrations are wonderful, so colourful and fun.

Review: CAILLOU: LIGHTS OUT by Chouette Publishing and Eric Sevigny
An electrical blackout can be a scary time even for adults. For young Caillou and even younger Rosie, the lights going off at supper time is frightening. Fortunately, Mommy and Daddy have flashlights and candles, and a wonderful campout supper is fixed over the fireplace. Then everyone "camps" in the living room to sleep, and when morning comes, the snow has stopped, the sun is out, and the power is on. A heartwarming delight for Caillou fans.
