This is the perfect addition to our First Grade Ancient World History Unit! I cannot stress enough how PACKED this book is with solid information! Tiny Tours covered the Nile Delta, Upper and Lower Egypt, the historical timeline and Dynasties, who and what Pharaohs were, popular historical facts, clothing- both then and now, weather, crops/harvesting, the role of the Nile River, what and how they worshipped, what they ate, how lodging worked, and how they travelled. I loved the sections about the role various Egyptians had and what daily life looked like back then the most. We read and talked about those pages, then I asked my little one what role they would have wanted to try- thankfully, he didn't say tomb robber 😂 I am so blown away by the attention to detail in this book. From entertainment to sports, communication to local customs, Thompson illuminates facts I didn't even know to ask about! Thank goodness for the timeline and glossary in the back!

With almost every detail illustrated, I have never found a more complete or helpful children's guide for ancient Egypt! It's perfect for beginners and aficionados alike! And that doesn't even address how adorable it is! 💖 I can't wait to pick up the next Tiny Tours Travel Guide!

Thank you to Publisher Spotlight and NetGalley for this ARC!

Compact but cleverly detailed travelogue ("time travelogue"?) to the glories of Ancient Egypt, informative, educational, and enjoyable, approaching history from the point of view of a travel writer.

What a charming and engaging way to introduce middle grade readers to Ancient Egypt. Touching on topics like Places to Go, Where to Stay, Packing the Essentials, and Speaking with Locals, this is a really funny approach to introducing concepts and topics that related to Ancient Egypt. The illustrations evoke a style close to ancient hieroglyphics, and while they are obviously more modernized, it feels like we truly did make an effort to make this feel as Ancient Egypt-y as possible and make it as immersive and silly for the readers as could be. Very well done, well-researched guide.
