This book was lovely. I love that there is a main scripture for each day to reflect on. I cannot wait to reread this during the Easter season. The book is bright and fun and it makes you look forward to the next day!

God Hears Her, A Joyful Easter, 40 Morning and Evening Devotions features women contributors by Our Daily Bread. Tis contains forty days of devotions but with two a day it is actually a total of eighty devotions. I have read several of these God Hears Her devotional collections from Our Daily Bread, I must say now this is one of my favorites. There are verses, then a short thoughtful devotion and a focus thought or prayer at the end of each, following the usual format of the Our Daily Bread devotional.
As the time leads up to the Easter celebration, so does this devotional collection. It is divided into three parts, with a focus on Jesus’ Ministry, The Journey to the Cross and the Cross and Empty Tomb. Each section has spoken to my heart. A marvelous devotion for Lent and the time leading up to Easter but can be helpful anytime of the year when hope and encouragement is needed.

A 40-day devotional designed to guide readers through the Easter season with morning and evening reflections. Written by a collective of women authors, the book is divided into three parts: **Jesus’s Ministry**, **Journey to the Cross**, and **The Cross and Empty Tomb**. Each devotion combines Scripture, personal stories, and prayers to deepen the reader’s intimacy with Jesus.
The first section explores Jesus’ teachings and miracles, emphasizing themes of surrender, obedience, and discipleship. Devotions like *Just as I Am* and *Walking in His Dust* remind readers that following Jesus requires trust and closeness to Him. The second section focuses on the days leading to the crucifixion, addressing temptation, suffering, and the cost of discipleship. Devotions such as *A Way of Escape* and *Jesus Wept* highlight God’s provision in temptation and His compassion in sorrow. The final section celebrates the resurrection, emphasizing gratitude, hope, and the promise of eternal life. Devotions like *Never Late* and *Jesus Wept* reassure readers of God’s perfect timing and His victory over death.
Strengths of the devotional include its accessibility, rich Scriptural foundation, emotional depth, and practical application. The authors use relatable stories and reflective questions to make the content engaging and transformative. However, the book could benefit from more historical context and theological depth in some areas.
Ideal for individuals, small groups, and women’s ministries, *God Hears Her* is a powerful resource for anyone seeking to encounter Jesus in a personal way during the Easter season. It balances personal reflection with biblical truth, making it both inspiring and theologically sound. The devotional’s greatest gift is its ability to make the Easter story feel fresh and relevant, inviting readers to experience the joy of the resurrection anew. Whether you are a new believer or a seasoned Christian, this book will deepen your faith and draw you closer to the Savior who hears you, loves you, and offers eternal joy.
A beautifully written devotional that centers on hope, renewal, and the faithfulness of God. Each entry is concise but meaningful, making it easy to reflect without feeling rushed. It’s a comforting reminder of truth during a season that calls us back to the foundation of our faith.

I really enjoyed this book as a lead up to Easter. I did read both morning and night at the same time though. My only issue here (and this is not the book) is I started this on Ash Wed and I finished it on Palm Sunday. I guess i'm not sure when the 40 days actually start?

This was an enjoyable read. I appreciated the short, insightful devotions and the thoughtful morning and evening format. Each reflection was brief yet meaningful, making it easy to incorporate into a daily routine.
While it works well for Lent, it is truly a devotional that can be appreciated in any season.
A nice way to remind oneself to take time to pray and reflect on Scripture during Lent. This book offered an assortment of Biblical passages organised by theme, allowing the reader to sample from different Books of the Bible without losing sight of the core messages of Lent.
I did not find the accompanying reflections to be as deep or thought-provoking as I had hoped, however.
