Description
Pastor Alex Seeley, co-founder of The Belonging Co., reveals how the Holy Spirit provides the deep healing, peace, and purpose beyond what therapy alone can provide.
At a time when many feel anxious and discouraged, the idea of living whole, healed, and empowered sounds wonderful--but often out of reach. Counseling, self-help books, and podcasts seem to offer temporary relief, but what about life-changing transformation?
In The Divine Counselor, Pastor Alex Seeley introduces readers to the best therapist they'll ever meet: the Holy Spirit. Drawing on biblical insights and personal stories, Alex endeavors to answer readers' deepest questions and doubts, while showing how the Holy Spirit . . .
- advocates on their behalf, interceding when they don't have the words to pray;
- guides them toward healing, connecting spiritual health and emotional wellness;
- helps them change mind-sets, to bring freedom from destructive labels and past experiences;
- speaks with clarity and wisdom, helping believers discern His voice from their own; and
- equips them to live in victory, empowering them to overcome.
With an infectious passion for this often misunderstood and overlooked person of the Trinity, Alex inspires readers to embrace the Holy Spirit as their closest friend and trusted counselor--the One they were created to know intimately. As they invite the ultimate Comforter into their everyday lives, this book will help readers experience lasting peace and live a life of freedom and joy.

The Divine Counselor is a fantastic book. Alex Seeley does a great job of providing practical ideas and meaningful advice on how to move through the trauma you may have faced, maybe old patterns of thinking, or even if you are only searching for more purpose for your life. Her method of doing this is by the power of the Holy Spirit, but Alex does a very exceptional job explaining the Holy Spirit as a person, the attributes of the Holy Spirit, and a pathway to move forward when we trust and put our faith in the working of the Holy Spirit here today.
I really enjoyed how Alex comes from an experience where she is able not only to provide a pathway to these things, but herself has walked the road dealing with many issues personally. Nothing makes for advice than someone who has actually walked a broken road and continues to find strength moving forward with the help of the Holy Spirit. She is very open and real about her emotional healing and spiritual growth using the Biblical truth.
The only thing I noticed I would recommend is maybe in areas where you are writing and you quote scripture to make sure you document the scripture. Most Christians who are familiar with the Bible will pick up on these points, but for a new believer they may feel its the authors words not something in the Bible. This is only a recommendation, definitely not a criticism as I loved this book.
I would recommend this read to anyone looking to grow in their walk as a Christian here in 2025. Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for sending this book to me. All opinions are my own.
