Description

Venomous Relationships exposes the most common, but often unrecognized, abusive relationships--those where one partner emotionally manipulates and verbally abuses the other. Through solid, all-too-real examples, author and emotional abuse survivor Tamara Neal helps you identify emotional abuse and makes practical suggestions for moving on, healing, and entering into new, loving relationships.

Reading Venomous Relationships is like having a heart-to-heart coffee shop conversation with a good friend who's willing to help you confront the pain and loss of self-worth associated with emotional abuse. With love and honesty, Neal reminds you of the inner strength and self-confidence you already possess--and the need to reclaim your life.

You are not broken, and you are not worthless. With time and honesty, you can regain your self-worth, end emotionally abusive relationships, and learn to care for yourself. Venomous Relationships offers a new chance. Are you ready to accept it?

Author bio:

Tamara Neal is a Certified Domestic Relationship coach, domestic violence advocate, and the owner and founder of a full-service residential adult assisted living center. Neal learned to trust her instincts while employed as an emergency communication technician for the Baltimore County 911 Center. For years, she listened to screams and terror as callers bore the brunt of toxic relationships. In the seeming eternity between calling 911 and the arrival of the police, Neal was the only help available for the person on the other end of the phone. During this time, she received a national diploma in emergency dispatch.

Neal’s dispatch experience gave her the authority needed to write Venomous Relationships, which won a 2015 National Indie Award of Excellence. She’s also the author of The World’s Top Ten Worst Men for Women Guide and a children’s book, Friendship, which was a 2015 National Indie Award of Excellence finalist. Neal currently lives in Maryland with her husband. Together they have four sons, a daughter, and numerous grandchildren.

I am a survivor of abuse and am now in a healthy fulfilling relationship. This book peaked my interest because of my history but also because I have a son who is currently in a dysfunctional relationship. My hope would be that this book would help those abused realize and get help. Unfortunately I think most of the abused wear blinders and believe they are deserving of abuse. There are just so many factors that keep the abuse going. I would hope this book would open eyes of those abused but I don't think it would be the catalyst in making them leave. It took me hitting bottom before leaving.

Great book for those about to begin the romantic quest for the significant other, and how to avoid problem partners (the leech, the baby, the abuser, etc.). What is even better than the advice on how to avoid these losers, is how to extricate yourself from an awful relationship if you've made the mistake of getting involved with one of these creeps. (And we all make mistakes!)

This is a quick, easy and approachable read that could save someone a lot of heartache! It will help you avoid making mistakes that many others have.
