Small Fox Big Lesson
The Fox Who Can Wait is a charming and playful reminder that slowing down and being kind can lead to the best results of all
This is such a sweet and engaging story about patience and taking your time. A forest cooking contest sounds fun until everyone rushes and things start going wrong, except for Fox who stays calm and waits. I loved how the message came through naturally without feeling preachy, and the illustrations kept my attention the whole way through. I really enjoyed reading this because it opened up an easy conversation with kids about slowing down and being thoughtful, all while still being fun and playful.
Fox Who Can Wait is an enchanting children's picture book that manages to teach a vital life lesson without ever feeling "preachy." Kateryna Dronova has created a delightful world in the bright green forest that kids will want to visit again and again.
Why it’s a 5-star favorite:
Engaging Plot: The forest cooking contest is such a fun and relatable setup. Watching Bear, Rabbit, and Mole get a bit too excited with their honey and carrots—leading to a sticky, gooey mess—is sure to get giggles from young readers.
Meaningful Lesson: The contrast between the chaotic animals and the "clever Fox" beautifully illustrates the importance of patience and self-control. It’s a gentle reminder that good things really do come to those who wait.
Perfect for Reading Aloud: The text features a gentle rhyme and playful forest characters that make it an ideal choice for bedtime or classroom story hours.
Charming Illustrations: The artwork perfectly complements the story, bringing the chaos and the wisdom of the forest animals to life in a way that captures a child's imagination.
This is a must-have for any parent or educator looking to teach kindness, cooperation, and patience in a way that is age-appropriate and genuinely enjoyable.
Okay I did not expect to love this as much as I did but wow this one stuck with me. Right from the start the forest is buzzing with excitement and everyone is rushing around making a big mess and honestly it feels just like real life with kids. Fox though just chills and waits and watching that play out was so satisfying. I loved how simple and clear the message was without talking down to anyone. This is one of those books kids actually listen to and adults secretly cheer for. Total win for story time 🦊🍯
An adorable, rhyming story about “friends” who gather ingredients and enjoy a friendly cookout to see who is the best cook…..who will it be? The one who watches, waits, stirs or stews? Every adult and kid will love this book. Beautiful illustrations as well.
This is a gentle, beautifully paced story about learning patience in a world that often rushes us along. The little fox at the center of the tale is full of curiosity and eagerness, and watching him discover the value of slowing down feels both tender and relatable.
The illustrations are a standout, soft, expressive, and full of warmth. Each page feels like a small woodland moment you want to linger over, which pairs perfectly with the book’s message. The storytelling is simple but thoughtful, making it easy for young readers to follow while still offering something meaningful for adults to appreciate.
It’s the kind of picture book that leaves you with a quiet smile: cozy, reassuring, and ideal for bedtime or calm reading moments. A lovely reminder that good things often come when we give them time.
