Description

Keep me like your darkest secrets…

Katerina Ivanova has done the unthinkable. She’s rescued her Shadow from the Underworld and struck a perilous bargain: six fleeting months with him in the world of the living before he must return to Sammael’s realm…and Elena’s cruel grasp. Katerina will stop at nothing to break Niko’s curse, banish the Darkness forever, and claim the future they’ve both bled for.

But Niko hasn’t come back unchanged. His curse has left its mark, granting him a power as dangerous as it is seductive. When he uses it to defend their village against the Dark Angel of War, the Elders brand him an abomination. Exiled alongside his Dimi, Niko wages a battle between the monster he fears he’s becoming and the woman whose love still anchors him to the Light. To save his soul, Niko and Katerina must defeat their enemies, outwit demons, and defy the curse that binds him…before the Darkness devours them all.

Perfect for readers of Sarah J. Maas, Carissa Broadbent, L.J. Andrews, and Rebecca Yarros, this is the sequel to Fate and Fury (also available on NetGalley through April 1).

This is a painfully good slow burn—the kind that gives you just enough and then pulls it away. It’s frustrating, addictive, and so worth it.

But the romance isn’t the only thing carrying this story. It’s heavy in the best way—grief, love, anger, and that constant push and pull between light and dark. A lot of the real battle is internal, especially for Niko, and you feel that in every choice he makes. His struggle with what he’s becoming vs. who he wants to be adds so much depth.

Katerina is his anchor, but even that isn’t simple. Their love is forbidden, complicated, and constantly at risk, which makes the tension between them unreal. The longing, the restraint… it hurts, but in the best way.

The dual POV worked really well here. Katya brings clarity, but Niko’s perspective adds weight—you really feel the pressure he’s under and how close everything is to falling apart.

The villains were also a standout. Elena especially—her obsession with Niko is intense and unsettling, and every time she shows up, it shifts the entire tone. You never fully feel safe in this story, and I loved that.

There’s a lot of action, but it’s the emotional thread and character dynamics that really keep you hooked. The friendships, the loyalty, that small circle of trust—it all feels important when everything else is so unstable.

Overall, this is a strong, emotional sequel with high stakes, great tension, and a romance that will test your patience in the best way. Definitely recommend if you like dark, forbidden love with a lot of heart.

Revenge and Ruin is the second book in the incredible Bone Moon Trilogy. It kicks off with a battle, taking place immediately after the events at the end of book one, Fate and Fury. So much happens in each of these two books, it's just crazy! The plot just keeps on getting more and more complex, as each villain has their own schemes, against each other as well as against the MCs, Katerina and Niko. I'm trying to avoid all spoilers in this review, so I'll be a bit vague here: There's one particular villain that is the absolute WORST, completely unhinged, and it will be so satisfying to (hopefully!) see them get what they deserve in the finale.

Revenge and Ruin starts with a really helpful refresher of the events of book 1, Fate and Fury. I love a useful recap in books, and always point them out!

I loved book two just as much as book one, and I am seriously invested in seeing Katerina and Niko get their HEA. Just one more book of emotional damage to go first! The third and final book of the trilogy will be out in Autumn 2026, and I cannot wait for it! I am desperate to see how it ends.
