I enjoyed the book it was a nice pleasant story
Some sad parts of the story, I wish Beth and Michael could have had a baby of their own
I found it strange how her parents were referred to as Rose and Harry not Mum and Dad.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Nice story.

This book will keep you reading long into the night. Beth Sherwin comes from a loving family who hope to provide the education they feel she deserves, her father making her promise not to let people look down on her. This promise was destroyed when one night at a party she is taken advantage of. Beth just can’t tell her mother as she is distraught after a family loss so takes matters into her own hands!
Determined to make the most of the education she got, Beth goes after a job in marketing which is something new for a female. She soon comes to the attention of one of the sons, Michael Rushton who is determined to woo her, will she be able to cross the divide & more importantly will the head of the firm, Michael’s father accept her!

It’s a great read, secrets that may/may not come out, who will they harm?

I really enjoyed it, favourite character was Beth for her strength and determination, least favourite was Ursula who behaved like a spoilt child. Look forward to more by this author.

When she finds herself pregnant as a result of rape, she works with her priest to find a solution that won’t bring judgment upon her and her family. Then after she finds a job that she excels at, the distraction of the owner’s son introduces love and a chance to better her life and the life of her new family by allowing them to see that their views on class aren’t without flaws. Kaine has a flow to her writing that even with the difficult topics addressed in the book (rape, teen pregnancy, fidelity, class discrimination), the reader doesn’t feel an undue stress, but is able to stay connected with the story and out of the challenges feels hope grow. Taking place from just as World War II ended to the cusp of the 1970s, you find yourself rooting for Beth to get what she wants while also marveling at her strength and determination. I requested this book not only for the description, but the cover drew me in. I don’t know if it was her eyes, the expression on her face, or something else, but I knew I needed to read it.

This story is unique as the author sprinkles some details, some hints, and peaks at what is to come. It kept me reading, and then she sprinkles some intrigue, some clues, and I didn't have a clue to what was going to happen next. This is the first book I have read of Margaret Kaine I will have to go check out her other books. It was my first book, I felt like the author was sprinkling the story instead of just laying it all out, and I really liked it.

A new series set in the potteries. Beth has hidden a secret for years. Can she get past her early years and find love. Or will her secret end her marriage.

This was a strong start to the Potteries Girls series, it had that historical fiction element that I was looking for and was engaged with what was happening. I enjoyed this as a opening chapter and am excited to read more in this universe. The characters had that overall feel that I was wanting and enjoyed the sports element in this. Margaret Kaine wrote this well and was engaged from the first page.
