I figured this book would be like all the other business books that briefly go over strategy while rehashing information that has been mentioned countless times before. It doesn’t. Instead it presented approaches to strategy that I haven’t seen mentioned elsewhere. I especially liked the process to measure companies strengths and weaknesses. The last section also was quite valuable. This book surprised me with a set of models and ideas I wasn’t familiar with. It’s definitely a book to check out.

A short, practical introduction to strategic thinking with concrete examples that make abstract concepts accessible.

Main takeaways: Anyone can be a strategist (not just executives), strategy isn't a once-a-year planning exercise but continuous iterative work, and effective strategy evolves rather than remaining static. Strategic thinking applies at every organizational level.

Works well as a primer for people new to strategic thinking or wanting to formalize intuitive practices. The seven-lesson structure is digestible with practical exercises.

Not groundbreaking for experienced strategists, but valuable for democratizing strategy as a skill rather than an executive-only domain.

A bit outdated and basic but had some good insights that I appreciated. A few less examples would have been appreciated
