Bill is a bad dog—his owner said so!—but what else can a bad dog be? In this whimsical picture book adventure, Bill the dog tries to tweet like a bird, meow like a cat, and growl like an alligator -- but soon discovers that being yourself is the best choice of all.
When Bill the dog and his doggy sidekick Fluffy take a romp through the house, everything is turned upside down. They wreck the living room, have a refreshing drink from the toilet, and then round out their romp with a lovely snooze on the bed... and that’s when they hear the voice! WHO DID THIS? Fluffy acts innocent and Bill takes the blame, getting told he is a bad dog. Bill is sent outside and begins to wonder if he’s actually bad at being a dog. And if he is, what else can a bad dog be? Bill tries being a bird. He tries being a cat. But neither of those work out well. What can Bill be if he’s not a dog?
Kids will find a loveable pup in Bill. Here's a funny, sweet reminder that just because we get in trouble, it doesn’t mean we aren’t loved.

Bill the Dog is a hilarious, heartwarming read that perfectly captures the lovable chaos of being a dog. Bill isn’t a “well-behaved” dog. He is mischievous, messy, and constantly getting into trouble, even still he is very charming. Beneath the humor and playful antics, the story carries thoughtful messages about identity, acceptance, making mistakes, and finding where you belong. The colorful and expressive illustrations bring Bill’s personality to life and add even more fun to the story, with a cartoon style that feels energetic and full of movement. Kids will love laughing at Bill’s wild behavior and silly interactions with the other animals, while adults will appreciate the warmth and humor woven throughout. This is a delightful book to read aloud for toddlers, big kids, and adults!

As major dog lovers, my 5 year old daughter and I had an absolute hoot with this book about Bill! Bill is used to wrecking the house and as a result tries on being a bird, alligator and cat - learning that the absolute best thing to be is his sweet self! 5/5

Oh man this is pure gold! Don't approach this with seriousness but expect fun! Nevermind the lesson but be lost in the riot brought by Bill. The illustration drips from Britt cartooning that the speech bubbles looks like it came from an editorial cartoon. The author hits all the spots on how dogs behave. The interactions with Bill to other animals and how they came back for the finale is such a good one. Highly recommended!

This is a wonderful book. The style of the illustrations fit perfectly with the story. The animals behave exactly like the animals in real life which makes the story even better. It's going to be a lot of fun to read aloud. I plan on getting a copy for my goddaughter.

Bill is a precocious dog who, after getting into trouble, questions who he really is. Chris Britt incorporates powerful messages about identify, making mistakes, and community as Bill tries to figure out who is he's really meant to be a dog. This book is cute, with colorful illustrations supporting each step of Bill's journey. I highly recommend this for pre-school or early elementary age children.
