365 Family Dinners and Devotions Cookbook: A Celebration of Food, Family, and Friends by Kathleen Y'Barbo is the kind of cookbook filled with homey recipes that make people feel happy. In other words what I call happy comfort food. Most of the recipes are not super fancy but you'll find a couple dazzle dazzle recipes for when you want to truly celebrate. Most of the recipes are the ones you can fix for cozy family dinners or celebrations.

Some of the recipes you'll find include:

Chicken Dianne Anytime Egg Fajitas Pink Salad Holiday Slaw Alfredo Pasta Salad Best Cinnamon Sticky Buns Oven-Fried Chicken Tuna Cheese Spread Delicious Slow-Cooked Beef Sandwiches Festive Holiday Punch Chocolate Marshmallow Bars Buckeyes Wonder Fudge Fresh Peach Cobbler

Of note you will find some recipes containing tree nuts or peanuts. If you have allergies to either, you might be able to substitute or skip the nuts for some of the recipes.

Interspersed between the recipes is commentary and Bible verses making this a cookbook you can read and apply to your Christian life.

Recommend.

This is a unique concept for a cookbook - 365 practical recipes combined with a devotional for each, plus tips and strategies to promote family bonding. Each recipe contains a full ingredient list and preparation instructions. The recipe is followed by a Bible verse and short thought-provoking devotional. The recipes are reminiscent of classic church cookbooks. I prepare the Wednesday night fellowship meals at my church, and I will likely use some of these recipes for those. Recipes aside, this book would be great to use as a daily family devotional. The scripture, devotional, and discussion time with family would take no more than five minutes. There are also "family dinnertime tips" sprinkled throughout that provide extra tips. The recipes vary day by day in regards to categories of food so that you get a good mix of different dishes. The index of recipes is found at the end of the book and it is broken down by categories: 1) Appetizers, 2) Main Dishes, 3) Salads, Sides, and Vegetables, 4) Breads, 5) Desserts and Sweets, 6) Beverages. The ARC I received did not include pictures, so I am not sure if those will be included in the finished product or not. I would recommend this to anyone looking for something different to promote family togetherness at the dinner table. I received this as a free ARC from Barbour Publishing, Inc. on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was with some American friends to Gubbio where I live. My friends wanted to discover my city, and we went to Saint Ubaldo the cathedral of the Saint Protector of the city. There, we had a lunch at a local restaurant. I was starting to eat when my friends asked me if we wanted to saying briefly a prayer to God for the food He gave us. I was enthusiastic for the idea and transported in my childhood, when our school teacher, during the elementary and intermediate school asked us to praying before to eat for thanking God for the food we would have enjoyed in a few while. I remember I did it at home as well and lost this habit only during my teenage age.

There is nothing like a delicious dinner meal for keep everyone cheerful and in a good mood.

There are the most diversified recipes in this book.
Many many cookies recipes (yum!), traditional American dishes, second, salads, various italian and ethnic recipes as well. It's a special cook book for everyone.

Why 365 days? Because this book wants to follow each family staying close to everyone and remembering while the lady of the family is cooking or baking that she is not alone along this long journey of a year. God is watching over her and her beloved dear ones every second of the day. For the entire year.

Truly inspired, there are beautiful passages and meditations for each of us.
