Description
Finding peace doesn’t take a lot. It takes small steps. It takes the 5Ms.
For over three decades, Amrit DePaulo lived in a near-constant state of burnout. A state that, from the outside, looked like success—a thriving career, an accomplished life, a beautiful family—but, on the inside, didn’t feel like anything at all.
The 5Ms provides a practical roadmap to reawakening your sense of self, finding joy, and increasing connection and awareness through five accessible and easy-to-implement practices:
- Movement
- Meaningful Interactions
- Mindful Eating
- Music & Art
- Meditation & Prayer
The 5Ms do not require adding more tasks to your overflowing schedule or learning new skills you need to perfect to “fix” yourself. Instead, this simple approach works with your life so you can recover your sense of vitality by getting more out of the things you’re already doing.
No matter where you are on your journey of reconnection, The 5Ms will meet you there. Combining personal stories, lessons, and easy-to-follow practices, The 5Ms is a powerful methodology for preventing burnout for the busy parent, colleague, leader, or loved one. This small book is a concise tool for navigating our stressful, hectic, and on-the-go lives—so you can finally mean it when you say: I’m fine.

This is one of the more actionable self help books I've ever read. The other includes a couple of options for getting started at the end of the book, and does a good job explaining why each step is something he feels as important.
