This is a very solid, though cozy. book to read to children about in-vitro fertilization. It is well thought out and uses the right level of vocabulary for the age group it's aimed at.

I can think of several now-adults who were born from IVF who would have loved this kind of explanation.

This is a great story for ANY child to read, not just a specific "type" of child. "Windows and mirrors," as the saying goes.

As a teacher, I'd love to read this book to my students/have it in my classroom. I appreciate how it normalizes varied family stories/structures. The explanations are kid-friendly. There's also some lessons about emotional health that I think would be helpful for kids to learn.

The illustrations, which were in a "digitally painted" style, were vibrant, engaging, and beautiful. A young reader would have a lot to look at reading this book, which is great.

The text is also a reasonable size/boldness and would be legible for a teacher trying to read it aloud (sometimes text is just so small/has no contrast with the background, but not the case here).

Sobbing. My egg retrieval is this week. This book meant so much to me. There is so much negativity surrounding IVF & it’s unnecessary. This book is a great way for a mom who underwent IVF to explain to her child how special they are & the unique process of how they came to be. I am hoping for a positive experience with my retrieval & will be purchasing this book to hopefully read to my little one some day.

It was a wonderful book with great messages, written for children. It is very inspiring, and I loved it. The fact that it's inspired by a real story—and actually is the author's own story—is quite impressive. I think this will change many people's perspective on life. I believe children will love this book a lot. I loved it very much; I really enjoy reading it. I just wish it had been longer, but I loved it. I also congratulate the illustrator; the drawings are wonderful. I loved it so much, it was so sweet. I really love reading children's books like this. I highly recommend it.

Read this story with my own little IVF babies this evening. As an IVF mama, I love to see this topic addressed in a children's story. We struggled with infertility so my partner and I completed IVF following an egg retrieval. In the story, Mommy decides to use the "Baby Bank" to have a baby of her own as a single parent. I love the way the story supports emotional intelligence and the emphasis on love and connection. A beautiful story and a great example of representation of IVF/fertility treatment in children's literature. I would love to see more children's stories related to families through adoption, blended families, and IVF.

You and Me, Meant to Be: An IVF Story is an informative and beautifully illustrated book that introduces children to the story of how they came to be through IVF. I think this would be especially meaningful for children whose mother chose to become a parent on her own and went through the IVF process to have them. The illustrations are lovely and complement the story well. I do think the book is more specific in its audience, since the way the story is written focuses on a particular family situation and repeatedly addresses the child as “you,” so it may not be as relatable to every child. Overall, I think it is a sweet and helpful book for families looking for a child-friendly way to explain their IVF journey.

This is a children’s picture book that explains IVF in very simple language for young children. I think it might satisfy a very young child, but as they get older, they will still want to know a bit more detail about how IVF works, but that is not for this book to do. As well as a brief explanation of IVF, there is quite a strong focus on how much the mother wanted to bring the child into the world and I think that is really great as it helps the child to understand how precious and valuable they are to their parent/s. The images are very well done and complement the story beautifully.

It is a lovely book and probably mainly for children around 2-5 years old who were conceived by IVF, although if other children have heard about it and have questions, this could be helpful for them too.

An amazing book to teach or at least introduce kids about what IVF is and how there are multiple ways for people to come into the world, while still being age-appropriate.

El mensaje y el propósito de este libro son hermosos. Muestra a una mamá que sueña con compartir la magia de la vida y lo logra a través de FIV (Fecundación in Vitro). Este libro ilustrado tiene como objetivo explicarle a los niños de forma empática y digerible su origen.

Es un libro indispensable no solo en familias que eligen el camino de la FIV, sino también en las escuelas, ya que te educa sobre este tema desde una perspectiva inocente y empática. Ver el amor y la maternidad deseada en este libro es precioso.

​Por otro lado, las ilustraciones son extremadamente bellas y la paleta de colores, la estética y ambientación son otoñales. Tanto visualmente como en su contenido es una belleza.

De verdad, se los recomiendo muchísimo. Aquí dejo algunas de mis frases favoritas:

I loved this book. The illustration was beautiful. The story was told in a thoughtful way for young children. I really appreciated that it shows that there are different ways to start/make a family.

This is a sweet little read, you can tell this author put her time not only into the art that is beautiful but to the education of how to have a baby in different ways. Now would I personally read this book to my child yes, due to the education that went into it but it could also up open windows of conversation as well. If we don’t teach our children who will.

Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this wonderfully touching story! Just a disclaimer that I was not able to see any of the illustrations in the book due to some file issues so I can't fully speak on them. But based on the cover image, the style looks so pretty and full of light. It gives me such a strong feeling of hope- and I am sure that is how the whole book's illustrations are. But even without the images to accompany, the text of this book was so lyrical and emotional - it made me almost cry at work while reading!! I am not a mom nor am I looking to be one at the moment, but this is such a lovely story that describes in an age-appropriate way how IVF treatments work and how they can help to create all types of families. I love the inclusion of single moms, as well as couples who cannot conceive for a variety of reasons. The term "baby bank" was also super cute and is a great way to describe a fertility/IVF clinic to a little one- especially those who will probably start telling everyone in their lives that they came from one. Even for those who do not yet have kids themselves but hope to one day, this book is full of hope and encouragement that will surely help a lot of people to feel like they aren't "broken." Overall - I 100% recommend, especially to IVF families and people from "untraditional" families, but for all families.
