On the surface, Lilykins lives the life of a typical house cat. But Lilykins has another life - a secret life - that transports her to a world of incredible adventures. "The Secret Life of Lilykins" is a story filled with animals, adventure and absurdity. But at its core, it's a story about the power of imagination.

"What's most lovely about this story is that, at its heart, it's about the things that make childhood so magical: family and imagination. I've personally wondered many times about what's going on inbetween my cats' ears and that question, surely universal to all cat lovers, is the spark for this delightful, charmingly illustrated story. The kids in your life and the kid in your heart will love Lilykins!" -- Amazon reviewer Wyman M.
The author has written a story that many children and the adults who may read the book to them will enjoy. Who would not appreciate all of Lilykins's adventures! Erik Mace's illustrations bring Lilykins's adventure to life. He has done a wonderful job providing just what readers needs to imagine these adventures themselves. This is a wonderful book for families of all ages. -- Amazon customer
Bought this for my daughter who loves it. Since it came, she's asked us to read it to her every night. -- Amazon reviewer redsamda

Oh, man, I would love to give this more stars. It has so much going for it. First, it is about a cat that has Walter Mitty like adventures. Second, he is owned by a gay couple, who wonder what sort of adventures he is imagining. And third, the adventures are kind of cool, in a rhyming sort of way.
Well, yes the colors are bright. And yes, the cat is cute. And yeah, its fun that he has adventures, but to tell the truth, I got bored with the rhymes. I got tired with the adventures. There wasn't a point to any of them, other than to have them. He wasn't solving a mystery. He wasn't rescuing someone. He was just having fun.
So, perhaps children will love the idea of a Walter Mitty cat. Perhaps they will love the bright pictures. Did not appeal to me as much as I had hoped it would. It was a little to heavy handed with the "moral" of using your imagination so as not to be bored.
Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

What fun book! Especially great for children and families. A fun, lighthearted book about the adventures of a kitty. The use of imagination is so good for the readers, children and adults alike. I think it is a good book to help get children to enjoy reading. You can read this over and over. I highly recommend it!

I loved this book and so did my children. So much so that tonight, after dinner, my son asked for the cat book again (I read this too him last night).
The story is about a cat who is obviously loved, and her imaginary adventures. The illustrations were adorable and the story was cute and rhymed nicely.

A really delightful illustrated children's book about a lovely cat called Lilykins who lives with her two human daddies and her older feline brother.
Lilykins gets up to a lot of fun adventures. She's a cat with a big imagination. I found myself smiling at her antics and the sweet illustrations and soon Lilykins grew on my heart.
The story itself is not badly written although due to some poor sentence placement and formatting I couldn't tell if the whole book was meant to rhyme or just some. I hope they tighten that up before publishing it. I'd buy this for my children or as a gift.
It has a lovely message about using the power of your imagination and with it being an all male couple also opens children up to LGBT family units. Lilykins won my heart paws down. 4 stars from this cat loving book lady!

With the Holidays just around the corner, what can you get for little ones other than toys. Books are always a good choice. The early lover of books never loses that love. In books we can travel to distant lands and times and meet characters we would never know otherwise.
Lilykins is a kitty who also travels to near and far without ever leaving home. It is a very good talent to have. I, purrsonally, am a pro at it and highly recommend it to other cats.
Humans are always losing us- or so they think. We have simply "morphed" into another plane where we travel the world. Lilykins not only does this but she writes about it too. I know there are human names below the title but give meow a break. Humans! Pfft.
It is a charming book with delightful artwork. I suspect we are going to hear from Lilykins again which is fine with meow.
I give it five purrs and two paws up.

The Secret Life of Lilykins is an enchanting book written for children, but it's also appealing for all ages. Initially this book caught my attention with its lyrical rhythmic prose, but all in all it kept my focus with its imaginative storyline and whimsical illustrations.
This book follows the daily life of a seemingly normal everyday house cat named Lily (aka Lilykins.) Through reading, it becomes quickly apparent that Lilykin’s life is anything but normal and ordinary. She has an amusing older brother Charlie, and not one, but two Dads!
Lily has a vivid imagination that allows her to lead an adventurous life. She explores different places, experiences a variety of things, and conquers her inner most fears all while she appears to be just lazily hanging around the house.
In Lilykins’s literary adventures she outsmarts a cunning bird, makes her brother act a fool, eats some unique fish and chips, and saves the ocean deep. All in a day’s work for this special cat!
There are also some important lessons that your children can learn and you as a parent can be reminded of within these pages. Topics such as respecting our environment, utilizing your imagination when times seem slow or dull, and the possibility that families can be structured in multiple ways in today's world.
I personally can't wait to see what other adventures Max Goodman comes up for Lilykins in the future. My children and I will be anxiously awaiting other books in this series!
This book was given to me by NetGalley, the publishers, and the author himself, in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, my children and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I loved the rhyming verse in this book and also the fact that Lilykins the cat was owned by, or rather owned as cats do, a (presumably) gay couple. The pictures were ok, some better than others, and I enjoyed the fun storyline. However, what concerned me the most was that Lilykins ate a meal of tuna and chocolate, and chocolate is very bad for cats. I'm worried that a young child after reading this book or being read to, might copy this and feed their own cat chocolate.

I wanted to get my thesaurus out and give it a good workout with this one. I would award one million stars if that were possible. It’s such a sweet enchanting tale of Lilykins, a cat with a secret life. Her regular life consists of her older cat brother Charlie and the two guys who own her. The story is told in rhyme which I love and it explains just where cats go when you can’t find them. For Lilykins she has been underwater diving, pretending to be a queen and eating the pigeon outside the window. It’s a fun, fantastic, creative bedtime length story. The illustrations are also noteworthy, and they work in sync with the prose to make the total package just adorable. If I had kids under the age of ten, I would buy it in book form.
I read a DRC, but it’s free on Amazon Kindle Unlimited! (as of today anyhow)
