Description

Los Angeles TV reporter Jaycee Wilder fled her woodsy New Hampshire hometown long ago, but when she gets word her teenage cousin has gone missing from the elite boarding school she attends on scholarship, Jaycee answers the urgent plea for help. Despite having narrowly survived the clutches of a serial killer herself, the intrepid storyteller and amateur investigator rushes back to the family she barely remembers and the wintry campus of an illustrious academy known for grooming the next generation of society's most privileged members. But just below the pristine surface of school uniforms, and wistful first crushes, Jaycee learns of a lurid opportunity that exists for a daring few.

As Jaycee penetrates her cousin's pubescent inner circle, she uncovers a world where innocence is lewdly corrupted, and secrets are too lucrative to expose. Sifting through rumors, and myths, Jaycee builds a fondness for the spirited young cousin she never took the time to know but is growing desperate to find. Relying on her own skills, and those of her trusted police source, James Barton, she follows a trail that takes her to a secluded estate in the state's northernmost territory. Racing to expose the tawdry pay-for-play enterprise that may have entangled her own relative, Jaycee peels back layers that run deep and discovers that sometimes surviving isn't enough and justice can be the ultimate final transaction.

Advance Praise

Jennifer Vaughn takes readers on a captivating and terrifying journey and is quickly becoming a must-read author" -Stefany Shaheen, NYT bestselling author of Elle & Coach.

"Well-crafted, being both intriguing and disturbing!" -Christopher P. Obert, founder of the New England Authors Expo

Jennifer Vaughn has a style of writing that literally has the reader's eyes glued to the pages. She knows how to toy with the emotions of her readers as she leads them from one surprise to another, making them believe that the gem could be found in the next stop ... just to make another surprising twist or turn. Her characters are rock-solid and I loved the protagonist, Jaycee. She might know what she wants, but she develops her confidence slowly, having to face her fears and to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Yes, she is real and very believable. From the colorful setting to the gripping plot, to the gorgeous prose, to the huge conflict, and the memorable characters, Legacy Girls is every bit a success--Divine Zape for Readers' Favorite

The author, Jennifer Vaughn, has woven an intricate tale that has readers on the edge of their seats as they enter a world they hope doesn't really exist, but suspect that perhaps it might. The writing is immaculate, with incredible descriptive details of everything from a simple facial expression to the settings and buildings housing the story, from the amazing landscapes of New Hampshire to the sterile and opulent Holy United Academy. Every character is unique and expertly described, from the state of their shoes to the number of buttons on their shirt, but not overdone at all. An excellent piece of writing that enthralls and the ending does not disappoint. Well done to an author who has the ability to take the reader straight into the world of her protagonist. Definitely an author to watch. Loved it! --Jane Finch for Readers' Favorite

"What a shock! Jennifer Vaughn holds nothing back in this thriller. What fun!" -Fritz Wetherbee, Author, NH Governor's Arts Award, 2013 Silver Circle Award, National Academy of Television Arts and Science.

Good fiction requires plausibility. Jennifer Vaughn, in her second Jaycee Wildermystery--Legacy Girls, has created a disturbingly dark world that one can easilyimagine could exist, but hopes that it never could.KD Mason, Author, The Jack Beale Mysteries

Another adventure with Jaycee Wilder...who navigates the world with an eye only a true news professional like Jennifer Vaughn can bring to her characters. I loved Legacy Girls and can't wait for the next one---Michele McPhee, best-selling true-crime author of Maximum Harm (ForeEdge books April 2017)

A quick read, but well written, the author has an excellent way with words. I thought the story was about a 16 year old girl missing from a high class private school, but decided it was more about Jaycee her cousin who went lookin for her and became attached to her family she had had very little contact with since childhood. Unfortunately, I had not read the first book in the series, and would recommend others do first, as there were many comments regarding that story. A Good read, and an excellent one for all parents sending their children off to school, as I am sure the plot in the story happens in real life.
