Description
Americans are sicker than ever before. The RAND Corporation reports that in 1995, 44.7% of Americans had a chronic health condition. By 2015 this figure had risen to 47.7%. This figure is projected to be 49.2% by 2030.
Contributing to the escalating prevalence of chronic disease is the overwhelming increase in daily stressors. Too many people in this country are in a state of constant, 24/7 stress—a significant contributing factor to disease. Our homes should be a refuge for relaxation, free of toxins (man-made substances) and toxicants (naturally occurring substances such as mold). Instead, most people typically go home to a stress-filled environment replete with a myriad of agents that can cause deleterious effects on the body, mind and spirit—whether it’s an abundance of volatile organic compounds being off-gassed, electromagnetic frequency (EMF) currents bombarding us from a portable phone system, or the chronic upset we experience when our bodies struggle to digest unnatural foods and chemical additives.
Toxic Home/Conscious Home explains how and why our homes are silently making many of us sick, despite our best efforts to be healthy. The primary components of the home are broken down into an understandable framework, thus making the daunting task of phasing out environmental toxins and toxicants in the household a manageable, step-by-step process. As readers take action, they will experience an increased sense of wellness as the body—no longer exposed to household toxins and stressors—begins to relax and to heal.

“As an expert in the health effects of MRI for the past 30 years, I found Dr. Rob Brown’s book very informative and useful. In it, he provides well researched and comprehensive coverage of many toxins found in the home and offers important tips for remediation, including the invisible and nearly ubiquitous EMF radiation. This book will be my go-to resource for eradicating these dangerous pollutants from my home in the future. “

“This book is a ‘must-read’ for everyone, whether you suffer from an unknown illness, or you just want to feel better and live a healthier life. From the water we drink to the energy that surrounds us, Dr. Rob Brown fills in special details about the numerous toxins in our environment — toxins we ‘intuitively’ sense. Written with elegant simplicity and humorous auto-biographical insight, Toxic Home is inspiring and motivating, giving us the tools we need to be a full participant in creating health. It’s an invitation you dare not refuse.”
