Description

Eating is a life-giving pleasure, but confusing messages from the diet and nutrition industries may leave one wondering what to eat. Do you find yourself eating food that doesn’t energize you? Munching mindlessly or emotionally? Thinking about food and your body more than you’d like? Now’s the time to discover how to trust your body, create nourishing habits, and ditch dieting so you are free to live a life you love. In Nourish: How to Heal Your Relationship with Food, Body, and Self, Heidi Schauster, MS, RDN, CEDRD-S shares over two decades of wisdom in disordered and emotional eating that will guide readers to transform their eating from self-control to self-love. In Nourish, Schauster provides a blueprint on how to trust your body and eat with love and common sense, while guiding her readers down a path that will help them shed the rigid social norms of nutrition and the harmful eating cycles that many adhere to in order to identify a mindful relationship withfood. With the introduction of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and thoughtful, unique self-care tips, through a 10-step healing process, Nourish not only reinforces the lessons learned about mindful nutrition, but it serves as a roadmap to continue on with positive practices for life-long success.

This book is such a blessing. My daughter has anorexia and Heidi Schauster hit the spot with this.
In Nourish, the focus is on relationships with food rather than dieting. This focus works for everyone. Both overeaters and undereaters will find this book useful. Nourish is laid out into steps to help the reader change their mind and habits about eating and food in general. The steps are not meant to flow linearly. In fact, the first step is about body image and is meant to be visited repeatedly.
Nourish is sure to help with a host of eating problems. I plan to purchase this book and add it to my daughter's reading list for her therapy.
