Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with powdered gold. Day after day, week after week, stage by stage, the seemingly broken object is cleaned, groomed, treated, healed, and finally enhanced. Because of this approach, kintsugi has also become a well-known therapy metaphor to resilience. This practical book will help you overcome rough times, heal your deepest wounds, and become whole again through the numerous stages, writing exercises, and testimonies.

A great look at accepting our flaws. Let celebrate by repairing our flaws with golden pride. Everything we experience is what makes us that great one of a kind individual.

This book is an excellent primer on the art of (as the subtitle says) finding strength in imperfection. From the history of the ancient art of kintsugi to present day meaning, everything is right here in this beautifully designed and illustrated book.

The author takes us step by step through the actual and metaphorical processes of Kintsugi: Break, assemble, wait,repair, reveal, and sublimate. Each section is divided into smaller steps. It all makes perfect sense!

If you are on a journey towards excepting yourself exactly as you are, imperfections and all, this book will be a blessing for you.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

As much as self-help books go, this is one of the best I have ever read so far, mostly because it uses a "real thing" like repairing things with gold (kintsugi) as a metaphor to "repair" yourself. It uses also good suggestions and tips and also it talks about going to therapy, which is a thing I am very grateful for. So i strongly recommend this book.

THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!

An interesting look at how to find your inner strength while looking at the art of Kintsugi from Japan. Kintsugi repairs broken ceramics by repairing them with some adhesive and gold to make the ceramics even more beautiful than they were before the break. This book takes that concept, but they apply it to self-healing after hardships. Highly recommend it for people interested in self-help books or going through a rough time.

This book came at just the right time for me.

A particularly difficult situation had arisen at the office and was making me extra cautious of my flaws. I had been dreading going back to the office and watching everyone watch me with open curiosity and derision.

This book was about the Japanese art of filling cracks with gold and how the same applies to us humans. There were a lot of things that the author talks about but the one that stuck with me was about the fact that my imperfections are okay and I should be proud of them, not hide them.

I am sure I will be able to get a lot more from the book once I am not reading it in an emotionally charged state. But till then, my recommendation to y0u is to enjoy the subtle book with a heart of gold.

I received a free copy of the book from NetGalley. It doesn't impact my opinion in any way;

This was a unique approach to embracing your imperfections and healing from past emotional wounds. I had never heard of this Japanese approach to healing, but found it to be interesting and beneficial.

I came across the idea of Kintsugi when I was about sixteen and desperately needed to believe that the parts where I was most broken could be fixed. I imagined my fissures being filled with gold; being mended and glorified at once. Coming across this book so many years later was a gift from the universe. I’ve come across so few people who know what this practice is about and how it can apply to humans that it was refreshing to see that someone else had seen the worth of this practice and all its reflections on humanity. Worth the read.
