Thank you NetGalley and SDP Publishing for a copy of "Maddie's Saturday to Remember" in exchange for my honest review.

This is a very colourful and engaging story about the special relationship between Maddie and her grandfather. They spend Saturday afternoons together all the time.

They visit Nikos at the fruit stand, they look at Nellie and her puppies. They admire a fascinating peditaxi. They always go to Georgina's Pizza for a slice of pizza, where they meet a lady who gives Maddie a flower for her hair. They listen to Joseph the street musician. They end their afternoon looking at the windows at Conlon's Department Store.

This time when they got to the department store the windows are covered with curtains. Maddie runs into the store and she sees the lady who gave her the flower. She learns that she is the window dresser for the store. Meeting Maddie has given her an idea for the new window display. She asks Maddie to come next Saturday for the big reveal.

The new display has Nikos, Nellie, Georgina, Joseph, Grandpa & Maddie staring in it. It's a fun story about Maddie and her excitement in everything she sees.

The book is about Maddie’s adventures on a Saturday outing with her grandpa. They go to meet different people in the street, make new friends, and have fun. Most importantly, they respect others and are kind to animals.
The illustrations are cheerful and lively. The writing could have been a little better. But I guess it’s suitable for the target audience. I felt the story a little rushed. Maybe a slightly slower pace would have created a stronger connection.
Overall, this is a sweet and warm book that shows the importance of everyday interactions and friendships.
Thank you, NetGalley and BooksGoSocial, for the ARC.

Once upon a time there was a girl who had a day with her grandfather, and that day was special for both of them (her and her grandfather) this Saturday ... period, read more about this beautiful story.

I would really highly recommend this story as it has great life lessons, it is easy to read and it has a good vocabulary for children.

The story is very nice, but I did not feel that spark to enter my favorite books, I have no idea, however, it is a great story

There was many things to love about this book. This story centers around Maddie and her grandfather and the precious time they spend together walking the neighborhood on a busy Saturday. They come across a sidewalk musician, an Italian pizza shop owner, and a store window designer. It’s a perfect multicultural neighborhood where strangers are friendly and respectful toward each other.

While I loved the “differences” between people depicted in the book, including spoken dialect, I suspect there will be criticisms about stereotyping based on ethnicity, race, etc. My response to that is, yes, this is a children’s book, and what better place to innocently and lovingly depict differences in people? My job as an adult figure in a child’s life is to wholeheartedly accept and celebrate those differences, not to pretend they don’t exist. This book does that perfectly and without fanfare.

I also want to comment on the illustrations. I thought the artwork was beautiful!

Many thanks to NetGalley and BookGoSocial for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this book.

A lovely little story about a little girl and her grandad who have a lovely day together exploring the neighbourhood.
You follow Maddie and she is out and about meeting everyone that she obviously knows well, from probably doing a similar thing with her grandad every week.
Beautiful story with pretty illustrations

A very sweet book about grandparent/grandchild relationship and a celebration of community! I liked meeting all the different 'characters' in the neighbourhood and it was nice to see the story tied up nicely at the end! Overall a really wholesome read with pleasingly detailed illustrations!

Very cute children's book. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous! Bricker takes a child on a journey of curiosity and joy. Grandparents are extremely important in a child's life, and this book brought back memories of weekends spent with my own grandfather.
