Fate Awakened

I could not put this book down. I finished it in one sitting. I loved the world building in the story, everything connected so well and there were many twist throughout the book. This was a different take on the werewolf mate trope that I'd come to love from my early days on Wattpad. It was very refreshing and engaging. Our main characters Briony and Hans had a lot to overcome if they wanted to be together. They had a lot of up hill battles to fight to become their best selves and leave their painful pasts behind. I was screaming at Hans through half the books because I couldn't believe how stubborn he was being. Jocelyn Montana is a great story teller and was able to weave together multiple elements to completely bring this story to life. I could tell she really took her time and tried to make every trope her own and succeeded in doing so.

I loved this story!!

I loved the characters, the development of their relationship, the development of the story, the stakes at hand... Just everything basically!

The world-building was great, I could picture myself in the surroundings. The history, mythology, and lore were explained just enough to understand but still leave you learning at the same time as the characters.

I loved Briony and I loved Hans. The relationship development was great.

I also loved all the side characters. Juri <3 I need more of him.

I cannot wait for the rest of these books. I just want to read more from this author!!

Wow, this book completely blew my mind off. I went into this with a little trepidation, as the books I read recently were not in my favor. This book was a great reprieve. And personally, I love reading about healing magic.
I really loved this book, both Briony and Hans. Even though this appears to be insta-lust, mutual love was developed and nurtured between the Protagonists, as a slow-burn romance.

"You're mine. It ripped from deep inside him. Clawed its way out."

The turmoil and angst of both the characters were well drawn out and developed. The plot was also engaging. I would love to read more about Katisa and oh and I can't wait for Hazel and some grumpy Vulf, who thinks mates make you weaker. Humph. Let's wait and see.

Going in I expected monster smut, but this book is so much more then I ever hoped for! It was a quick and easy read with world building, well written characters, character arcs, and werewolf spice that always left me wanting more. Briony, the dark haired, gorgeous human turns out to be so much more then she ever expected she could be. And Hans, the black furred, strong, sexy Vulk (werewolf) has been on his own for 100 years, crossing paths with Briony will help him find himself and his family. But going up against a demon and a sorcerer he thought dead, could lead him down a path of power that he won't be able to come back from.

Wow I loved ulterra, the world building was excellent a vivid fantasy world of magical creatures. Han's is a vulk a werewolf and he is lured by a necromancer to the captured Briony.
Although they don't meet under the best circumstances their romance builds slowly and is beautiful.
The side characters were really good and I look forward to reading more of the vae especially Katisa, I'm already excited to read juri's book.
I will definitely be looking out for more from this author and I loved this world so much I can't wait to re-visit. A well written well thought out fantasy world.
I was lucky enough to read a copy of this on netgally but will definitely buy it as soon as it comes out to add to my fantasy collection. Fabulous read.

I found this book very gripping and difficult to put down. The writing was fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the character development and the world created in this book. The only thing I would say is that it very much does fit that typical high fantasy romance plotline, where man meets woman and they team up to defeat villain, they fall in love, etc. However, I do know that lots of people love this so if you like this type of thing, I get why, but I tend to enjoy more unique storylines. Don’t get me wrong this novel was great, but in order for me to give it 5 stars it would have to be a less generic high fantasy romance plotline.

This was a fast paced read for me. The setting was very expansive and vibrant, and our characters all had distinct personalities that gave a lot of life to the story. The banter between Briony and Hans was endearing and funny at times, and I adore a strong female lead against a grumpy male lead. This book caters to plenty of elements that I enjoy, such as fated mates, overprotective love interests, and monster romance. At times I had some trouble with the lore and history feeling info dumped, but I am grateful for the glossary at the beginning of the book. Ultimately I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone looking for a classic monster fantasy romance.

This reader is glad they adhered to the old adage of never judging a book by its cover because between the pages of this fantasy romance from an author who is new to me, I found an expertly written story with an interesting storyline involving magic, mystery and a monster Vulk (werewolf) who is so much more.
Hans cannot escape from his past and things become ever more complicated when he is drawn into a trap that was put into motion by an evil sorceress using human MFC Brioney as bait.
This is an adult book all the way as there is violence and plenty of steam between the leads throughout the story none of which detracts from this fascinating, enchanting and expertly executed feat of world building that at its heart is an immersive love story entwined within a battle of good and evil.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book with its action, adventure and wonderful characterizations that had me glued to the pages.
After much trial and unhappiness this narrative does end with a happily ever after and I was more than excited to see there is another book in the works, and eagerly await its arrival!

I’m obsessed and can’t wait for more! I love a monster romance but I love a monster romance WITH PLOT even more! I was completely drawn in by the end of chapter one. I’m he world building and lore was fantastic. The character development for Briony and Hans was absolutely perfect. I’m excited to get The next book

So, I really liked this one. The plot is the main focus of the book, but there are also some really good spicy scenes, one right in the beginning of the book. The spice doesn't overwhelm the plot, and I like the relationship development between the two MCs. There are battles and adventures and evil forces to conquer. The writing is a bit flowery at first, but it quickly settles into a good compelling read.

The author has created a new fantasy world, and I was worried about the glossary at the beginning, but the heroine is unfamiliar with most of the creatures (thinking they are mythical beings) they encounter, so many of them are described to her by her travel companions. It's easy to immerse yourself in the world, and the writing is evocative.

The hero is alpha, but not an alphahole, which I absolutely cannot stand. There's a bit of a Beauty and the Beast vibe, but the heroine fully accepts the hero's vulk (werewolf) form. I am really looking forward to reading more by this author.

I am dying for more of this marvelous world and its brilliant characters. They have stolen my heart, and I truly don't want it back if I can enjoy and savor their stories.

Not knowing what to expect, I was honestly blown away by this incredible adventure! This rich and diverse world with its intriguing and stunning characters have left it's mark on my heart, and I will treasure it for a very long time to come. Briony and Hans are out of this world wonderful and so insanely opposites that I couldn't put this book down. It snagged my attention and kept me glued to my chair as I explored and treasures every step of this journey.

Jocelyn Montana has won my loyalty as a reader, and I truly can't wait to see what she creates next. Beyond a doubt it will be marvelous and it will be a living work of art. She is without a doubt an extremely gifted author who loves giving of herself to others. I am still marvekong over this magnificent story that she has created so lovingly and magnificently. Don't walk but run to pickup this book and enjoy it!

This book is absolutely wild! There are so many twists and turns you will not be able to put the book down... You will definitely want to start this one when you have the time to really delve in because you will not want to stop reading for anything once you jump in!.

This book and characters were hard to put down. I was drawn into the world of Ulterra and want more! I can’t wait to read more adventures from Jocelyn! Briony and Hans love story was full of spice, banter and everything that a reader needs.

This was my 1st book of this kind. I have seen many people recommend it. Boy am I glad I gave it a chance. It was so good. I wasn't sure at first because of the male main character being a werewolf all the time. I always wondered how the true (monster) characters had relations with humans. But this author did an amazing job and the sexy times were so hot. I loved this book. I can not wait to read more by this author. She truly knows how to write this genre and monster trope.

Fate Awakened was such an exciting fantasy romance! If you're like me and prefer high fantasy to contemporary or paranormal than you'll probably love this book. I felt like it hit the same notes that I'm used to and love in a fantasy romance - compelling lore and world, adventure and life-or-death moments, fate and magical destiny.

One thing to note is that although the MMC is humanoid he is not human. It's about 2.5/5 on the spice scale (has some very explicit scenes though it doesn't overtake the plot), and does make reference to his species and uses some omegaverse tropes. This isn't really my thing but I personally didn't find it to be too overwhelming so I was still able to enjoy the book.

I started reading this book just for the sake of reading a new genre but I never knew I was going to get hooked on this story day and night! Wow! Simply amazing and I am surprised by the less number of reviews that this book has got. Because this story deserves more than this!! 😍

From the first scene till the last I never felt bored or skipped the para even though the whole thing was new for me and it took some time to understand how things work in this fantasy world of werewolves.

And now I am regretting reading this because I didn't know that it was going to be a series and I JUST CANNOT WAIT FOR THE JURI'S BOOK! AND THE NEXT ONE! AND THE NEXT! 🙊🙈

This book starts off hot and heavy. Lots of spice and then dives into the plot. This is a paranormal monster/human shifter romance. Tropes include alpha, primal, possessive and fated mates.

Briony is a outcast in the town she lives in, fighting for everything she has. She has special healing magic in a town where magic is outlawed. Hans is a Vulk, a werewolf, a creature that Briony believes devours people. After being kidnapped and forced the consume a special potion, Briony goes into a heat and Hand finds her. Their meeting is less than conventional. They become Runebound and the adventure begins trying to make sense of what’s going on. Meanwhile an evil force is rising to gain power in the land. Briony and Hans have to learn what is brewing between them while staying safe and keeping the balance of their land.

I really enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. The world pulled me in and hasn’t let go. This was my first shifter romance with knotting and I’m here for it. Due to previous trauma, Briony had some hard choices to make and she grew from them. I enjoyed the emotional push and pull the main characters went through. With the events playing out in this story I am excited to see where things go from here with the other characters we were introduced to

I did enjoy this after a slight concern at the beginning that the MMC was going to be too animal-like perhaps.

Briony's character was strong, often selfless, and determined to settle for nothing less than she deserved. She held her own against Hans' gruffness for the entire book admirably. I am sucker for anything fated mates related, and this definitely hit the spot. A reluctant bonding between a wolf and a woman with unknown magic.

I would have loved a more extended ending to properly show Hans' battle with his own regrets and beginning coming full circle, but the lesson is a powerful one.

Sometimes the power is within us the entire time; we just have to make the harder choice to discover it.

The 'monster love' fan in me was drawn by the cover. Between the pages I found a well written, compelling fantasy
romance from an author who is new to me.

Briony and Hans have both been emotionally damaged by others in the past making them wary to trust,
now they have one month to complete their journey and change history or decide not to.
Magical warfare and drama kept me entertained and involved while Hans and Briony found their place with each other.

Fate Awakened has an interesting story-line involving magic, action, adventure, wonderful characterizations, mystery
and a monster (werewolf) Vulk who is so much more. I look forward to see how Jocelyn Montana will continue this series.

This book blew me away! It reminded me of Wild Magic mixed with Lord of the Rings but with magic and mythical monsters and I was all for it! Nothing of this book disappointed me and Im hungry for the next segment of this world's story. This has the capacity to be a series like ACOTAR and I want more!

This was definitely an interesting book, I didn't know what to expect but it was unexpectedly sweet. It wasn't quite my cup of tea but if you are looking for something steamy then this would be good.

Hans tries to fight against the binding for good reasons, he is loyal to his clan, but it's Briony who he wants to be with. Briony, Hans & new found friends pool their magic, power and strength to fight the incoming battle that may take more from them than the lives they lose.

Fate Awakened is a fantasy romance that combines magic, monsters, demons, action and mystery. I really enjoyed it, loved the characters & the world building, and look forward to the next book in the series.

This book was a super fun, fast paced monster romance that hooked me right from the start! I really enjoyed the dynamic between Briony and Hans and I loved seeing their relationship develop over the book!

This book kicked off a series - so there was lots of world building and introduction of side characters as well! There were lots of little nuggets of teasers for future books dropped in there too, and I really hope that they all get a book eventually!

This book had some of my favorite tropes including size difference, fated mates, touch her and ☠️vibes, mutual pining, and monster/human smexy times! Both of the MCs struggle with their own previous trauma and it’s wonderful to see them grow throughout the book!

I’m definitely looking forward to the next installment in this series!! Overall 4 stars!!

Fate awaken is an enchanted whimsical story... The character interactions .. The world building is so good!!.. I wish i could get a second book.. But i really recommend reading this....

I was actually caught off guard by how much I loved this book. This is my first book by Jocelyn Montana, but it will absolutely not be the last. I even went to sign up for her newsletter, because you get a free book when you do. Now, Fate Awakened is the story of Hans and Briony. Hans is a Vulk (werewolf) who lives a solitary life because of things that happened in his past. Briony is a young woman who is lured from her village and thrown into Hans' path, in a very erotic way. They work together to hunt and stop their enemy. Secrets come out that alter their future. There are just so many things I like it will be impossible to do so without putting most of the book in my review. Just believe me when I say you will not be disappointed.

One of the SPICIEST books I have read in the fantasy genre!

The very first thing that kept my interest up is the unique world that was set up by the author. The creatures have different names even I can’t pronounce haha! The second that kept my interest is the chemistry between the main characters! I got really confused at first because I usually have a hard time reading books with so many characters introduced at the start so it took quite some time for me to remember their names.

I honestly didn’t expect that there would be a spicy scene at the beginning of the book so I liked that element of surprise but what I appreciate the most is that the plot is still there. I’ve always loved shifter books— specifically werewolf books and the mystery of Hans was a good factor that made me want to know more about his past and his need for vengeance. Now for Briony, I just wished she was a tad bit more fierce because I like when the female lead is a bad ass. The characters were good but can do more reshaping but the world fascinated me to no end.

Forced proximity has always been a must read trope for me so if you’re a fan of this specific trope the. don’t miss this and read it as soon as you can! Also, Adventure is one of the sub genre I am in love with and this book ✨SERVED✨

This was a very nice weekend read. It kept my interest from the first chapter to the last chapter! A definite must read for fantasy romance readers!

This is a hidden gem seriously. I was captivated, unexpectedly. It was well written, very well done. The chemistry between Hans and Briony, i freaking loved it. This was such a great first book from this new author.

This book really surprised me! I didn't think the plot was that compelling. I was expecting the classic monster romance with a lot of spicy 🌶 and few plot twists. Instead I found myself with exactly the opposite.

One thing I didn't like is the expectation at the beginning of the book regarding the spicy.
The first scene is very 🥵 and detailed, while the others are hastily written. The author should have done the opposite for create more suspense.

However the story is very interesting and the characters are well described.
The love story is well written apart from a few cringe scenes (e.g. the warewolf purring).
Anyway I absolutely recommend this book!

Fate Awakened was a great fantasy read with;
Good characters and world building, dual POV, grumpy/sunshine, shifters, cockatrice, incubus, magicwielders, werewolves, necromancer, knotting and so much more!

I loved Hans and Briony, the two MC’s. The story itself was cool and charming, and had a lot of fantasy creatures which was fun to read about. The phasing of the story was also nice (not too slow).
