This book, The Inner Path of Writing, Make Love not War to the Writer Within, has the solution.

What if I told you there’s a softer—yet equally effective way—to free your Inner Writer that does not involve “diligently fighting creative battles with a tricky foe” (as the famous writing guru Stephen Pressfield puts it)?

The world-class contributors in this book show you a better way.

Publishers, authors and transformational experts share a treasure trove of wisdom on how to clear your blocks and Resistance so you can shine your brilliance for a successful writing career that you love.

Influencers like Dr Joe Vitale, Marc Allen, Brandon Bays, Mark Leslie Lefebvre, Michael La Ronn, Julie Broad (and many more) offer valuable tools and tactics about:

  • Being productive and prosperous
  • Getting things done
  • Overcoming depression
  • Smashing writer’s block
  • Beating burnout
  • Staying healthy: physically, mentally, and emotionally
  • Being persistent
  • Never writing “boring books”
  • Harnessing your energy and genius

Caryl Westmore, author and host of the Write the Book Inside You podcast, and the world’s first Emotional Freedom Tapping Book Coach, spent many months interviewing the contributors to distil their valuable insights on how you can change your life to write more productively and profitably while also staying healthy and happy.

Don’t waste another precious moment of your life battling the dreaded Ogre Resistance or the Monsters of Fear, Doubt, and Insecurity.

It’s time to make love, not wage war, with your Inner Writer and become the unshakeable, unstoppable, shining star you were born to be.

This was a wonderful and valuable book on the craft of writing. I learned new skills to add to my toolbox and it also inspired me to push onwards with the novel I’m working on. I also loved the nuggets of wisdom from other writers, reassuring me that I’m not alone in my journey. Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, and author for a chance to read and review this book.

If you are a writer and feel inspired by Oprah, EFT, Miracle mornings, tarot, or Dr. Joe Vitale, then this is the perfectly niched down book for you!

Happy pub day Caryl Westmore!

The Inner Path of Writing, Making Love not War to the Writer Within by Caryl Westmore does a wonderful job curating gems of writing information from previous interviews for this book. Every page you turn to shares advice from self helps most popular and well known creative minds.

There are three parts in the book:
1) Winning success tactics, writing, publishing, marketing,
2) From stuck to stoked liberating the writer within, and
3) Health habits and self care staying the course long-term.

Within each part, lives multiple chapters. Each belongs to a different interviewee and ends with "Golden Nuggets" from them that summarizes the most powerful advice they offer in practical steps.

Having all of this carefully handpicked and sorted by theme is so helpful. I can go straight to the section I need support in, get a boost with their advice, and come back to it whenever I need.

This book is much more than a treasure trove of tips and support for authors, rather a manual on how to live your most present, creative, and mindful life. This is about putting in the work, and consistently choosing a writer's life.

I put a lot of things into immediate action like taking inspired action as quickly as possible with of the natural boost you get from the "excited energy" of a new idea, rewriting every goal as an affirmation, and befriending your inner monster. That last one is so cute! Julie Broad says to "befriend your inner monster and know what triggers them." I imagine my imposter syndrome monster covered in orange fuzz and has one eyeball. When she's in the way of my writing I can imagine scooping her up and placing her on my shoulder to watch me write.

New Age methods are offered throughout the book with the goal of clearing the way for your best writing self. It's a very holistic view at the writer journey with lots of techniques to try. A helpful resource with loads of tips to try. Thank you!!

If you are like so many people, you feel you want to write a book. Perhaps you've put it off forever. Perhaps you've started but now feel blocked. Westmore provides lots of valuable information about habits, useful tools, mindsets, and more to persevere in writing. This book is more of a psychological approach to be free of whatever is keeping you from writing. She has tips from a number of successful authors. Seeing writer's block as founded in past trauma and memories, she includes a number of strategies from people who have designed successful methods in overcoming them. She includes her own techniques, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) Tapping and Matrix Reimprinting. She also has a section on physical well-being.

One insight I particularly appreciated is the distinction between inner and outer success. Outer success may includes actually publishing and selling your book. Inner success, however, is that feeling of being inspired, of writing with pleasure and passion. It is feeling you are in a satisfying calling.

Westmore has collected the information from many sources, providing key points in nuggets of practical suggestions. I think there is something for everyone in this book. If you don't like one of the ideas, there are many more from which to draw practical insight. There are links to free resources in the ebook I read, including a free book and explanatory videos.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

The Inner Path of Writing, Make Love not War to the Writer Within is a self help book for writers of all levels and genres. Established writers and publishers share their wisdom on variety of subjects and provide tips and tricks for budding writing. It is all at a very high level and doesn't really cover any subject in depth. It is a compilation book so you don't really get a feel for the author herself. Maybe less contributions and more in depth advice might have been a bit more useful. But overall a good book.

This is the perfect book for the writer who's beyond the usual how-to, introductory book for beginners, treating us to great insights and inspirations. It was a smooth read (I took lots of notes!) and I'm definitely going to read it again. My favorite writing inspirational books give me a boost each time I visit with them, even for a chapter. Thsi is definitely one of those books that keeps on giving.
