This book is great.I love the Bible verses in this book. The stories you can read every day and they are such a blessing and very easy to understand.. This is a great book for everyone to read.

Along with many Christian wives and other Christian single ladies, I know well the importance of praying for my husband.
I understand the ‘why’, but sometimes I lose the ‘what’ and don’t always find the words. It’s incredible that the Holy Spirit can take those moments and turn them into the words that I can’t seem to speak, but I think there’s still great value in learning what and how to pray and I know my husband will greatly benefit from those efforts- when we marry.
When I read a quote from Elizabeth George’s 15 Verses to Pray for Your Husband, I had to let it sink in for a moment. I never believed a simple “Bless him, Lord,” was enough to truly encompass all of the things my husband faces or will face on a daily basis, but the thought of me potentially being the only person standing in the gap for him is more than enough reason to pray more fervently and more intentionally than ever before.
While I was reading this book along with many other books that encourages women to pray for their husbands, I kept having these thoughts in my head that I had to forcefully ask myself: “Who encourages the men to pray for their wives?” or “rather, who prays for the wives?” Well I didn’t want to indulge in those thoughts, so I just kept reading.
In 15 Verses to Pray for Your Husband, Elizabeth George not only includes specific scriptures to pray for your husband, but also shares why those scriptures are important to pray for your husband. Fatherhood, work, financial matters, and purity are just a sampling of the prayer topics covered in this book. These topics, along with the remaining eleven, are all crucial prayer concerns and the book does a great job in guiding wives through every aspect of praying diligently and specifically in all of these areas.
I want to pray for my husband because, as stated in the book, “praying for your husband is the supreme act of love.”
I want to pray frequently for my husband as a single lady and when I’m married.
I want him to know without a shadow of a doubt that I pray for him daily.
I pray for him when he asks, before he asks, and even when he doesn’t ask. I want him to know that my praying for him is a gift and I want to know that my praying makes a difference in his life, career and ministry.
The truth of the matter, though, is that I often start off well, I write out scriptures and topics I want to pray about, just to get distracted before too long. Those are the times when my well-meaning prayer time ends up being a compilation of half-finished thoughts. Tell me I’m not the only one.
I long to do better than that and that’s why I so appreciate this book and the guidance in it. I passionately believe that prayer makes a difference, but I sometimes need help with the execution.
“Your husband will have a tough time leading if you aren’t willing to follow.”
One thing I particularly enjoyed about this book is that, while its focus is on how and what to pray, the heart of the wife offering those prayers is also addressed. Many times we claim to pray, pray, and pray even more, with seemingly no answers or changes to show in our husbands.
I love that the author includes accountability for wives to go along with these verses, too. After all, if our hearts and actions don’t reflect the very things we pray for our husbands, then what good is any of it?
I also loved the practical application aspects of each chapter. The personal experiences shared by the author help make the connections between the scriptures, the prayers, and what all of this looks like off the pages of The Bible. That’s incredibly beneficial, especially if you’re praying these scriptures for the first time.
There are also lots of other tips for practical application shared throughout 15 Verses to Pray for Your Husband. For example, the last chapter not only focuses on praying for the partnership between husband and wife, why you need to pray, study and possibly read books together, but also includes the following suggestions for promoting teamwork and detailed explanations to accompany them:
Pray together
Have devotions together
Plan together
Talk together
Parent together
Serve together
Have fun together
Work together
In many ways, Elizabeth George assumes the role of the Titus 2-style mentor I wish I could have through this book.
Single ladies preparing for marriage and wives of any age and season in marriage can benefit from her direction and wisdom shared in 15 Verses to Pray for Your Husband and I’m thankful to have gained her guidance for praying for my husband.
I received this book from NET GALLEY for this this review. The thoughts shared here are mine and I wasn’t compelled to give a positive review.

So often, we as people of faith find ourselves wanting to study or spend more quiet time and not beginning to do so because we can't spend "enough time". The saddest thing about this is that we sell ourselves short by not doing anything at all because we feel like we can't do enough. That's where a book like this is perfect-- it helps you to begin and once you do you realize-- I can get a good bit done in 5 minutes. Even more so, you realize-- I'm thinking about this a lot longer than 5 minutes and maybe spending time with God isn't so hard after all. I love love LOVED this book! I love Sheila Walsh and enjoy all that she has to say. Not only does she provide depth to her work but also provides light humor throughout. I have to say that I looked forward to reading this devotional every day and was sad when I finished it. Sheila Walsh always leaves me wanting more!

I got this book absolutely free from NetGalley.com in exchange for the honest review you're reading now!
This is the kind of devotional I'm used to. It's not a single Bible verse followed by a couple paragraphs describing the meaning of a verse, followed by a pre-made prayer. Instead, each devotional within this book contains a personal story or retelling of a Biblical story and a small list of verses pertaining to the story they proceeded. Each story has a wonderful lesson to learn and the Bible verses are always relevant.
What really got me was the personal stories. I was in tears quite often because I relate so well. Sheila Walsh has found messages from God in her everyday experiences and what a wonderful thing that is! I won't spoil any of the book for you, but I will tell you that I found many life-changing messages. One in particular, has extremely impacted my out-look on life for the better. I can't think the wonderful Sheila Walsh enough for writing such a life-changing book. I enjoyed it immensely.
I will tell you that although each devotional has it's own topic, the book is not set on one topic. For me, that was great because I was getting a new message with every devotional, but if you're looking on an intensive study on one topic, this is not it. This isn't a bad thing. Like I said, I enjoyed the diversity in messages within the book.
5 Minutes with Jesus by Sheila Walsh gets 5 out of 5 stars from me!

I really loved this book! I loved how it was structured, with different topics each day, and verses that referred to it. I found it easy to follow along, and I really really enjoyed it. Thanks so much for the copy!

5 Minutes with Jesus is much more than a devotional, it's a golden nugget with genuine truths that strike it rich in your heart.
I'm not one for devotionals but the description of this book really spoke to me. Especially with the present storm happening in my life. After reading through each devotion, it was like what Sheila wrote was meant for me. The 5 minute scriptures are deep and meaningful, they tie in with the devotional.
One part really spoke to me:
"Peace is not the absence of trouble; it is the presence of Christ."
This devotional can be used for yourself or given as a gift to anyone. It is a gem worth reading over and over again.

5 Minutes with Jesus: Making Today Matter is a daily devotional book by Sheila Walsh.
This daily devotional book may easily be incorporated into personal devotional time or utilized to start spending quiet time with God each day. Each chapter includes the devotional text, as well as a section that's titled Five Minutes in the Word, which consists of several scripture verses to read.
In the Introduction, Walsh shares, "I know it seems like we really don't have time for one more thing. But I also know that God's time is not like ours, and when we give Him our time, He can do more within us in five minutes than if we spent five hours on our own.... It is the desire of my heart that on each page you'll find truth from God's Word that will nourish you, sustain you, and remind you that you are not alone."
Making Today Matter is an encouraging devotional book, which is geared towards women of all ages. And it's an ideal gift for friends and family.
