As a mom of a teen with ADHD I found a lot of helpful tips in this. My teen had zero interest in reading the book but that's not the books fault. He was receptive to some of the tips when I explained it to him. I like how this book was formatted. It was in outline/bullet style and it made it easy to find what you are looking for and made it easy to focus on what was really important. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a teen with ADHD.
Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book. The opinion in this review is my own.
A Practical Lifesaver for Overwhelmed Teens (and Parents!) - Unlocking Executive Functioning Skills for Teens is one of those rare guides that actually speaks to teens without talking down to them. It breaks down complex skills like time management, focus, and organization into bite-sized, doable steps. I appreciated how the book didn’t expect perfection—it was realistic about how the teenage brain works and offered genuinely helpful advice, not just lectures. As a parent, I found it really useful too; it gave me better ways to support my teen without the usual arguments.
If your brain’s running 47 tabs and none of them are loading—this book gets you.
I seriously wish I’d had this book back when I was accidentally doing homework the night before it was due... every time. 😅 Unlocking Executive Functioning Skills for Teens is like having a chill, smart bestie who knows all the hacks for staying on track without losing your mind. It’s not boring, not judgy, and actually HELPFUL (yes, all caps). Whether you’re drowning in deadlines or just want to stop forgetting your water bottle every day, this book’s got your back. 🧠📅🔥
