Excellent book for any parent looking for new or better ways to communicate with their children. As they grow older and gain more independence it can be difficult to touch base in a meaningful way and this book gives you the tools you need to keep the lines of communication open, especially in this digital age.
A straightforward read that’s easy to digest and put into action!
I have one son, and our primary form of communication is through text messages. I tend to go on and on, and dislike it when he responds with a no or a yes. Cohen's book changed my thinking about the entire process of connecting with him. I found her content easy to understand and immediately began implementing her suggestions. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
I am so glad that I was able to read this book. It is full of ideas to better communicate with your adult children. We all live in a time when our lives are busy. Yet having a short text message during your day, reminding your loved ones how much they mean to you, is so important. A few years ago, my best friend was going through chemo for a very aggressive cancer. She loved to laugh, so I made it my mission to make sure every morning she would look at her email, and I would have a joke or a cartoon for her to start her day off with a laugh. If this were today, I could text her, but the idea is the same. After chemo was over, she told me just how much she looked forward to those emails and how very much it meant to her. I am so happy that this small act could help. I relate this story because we never know just how much a small gesture can help others. This book is a great example of a small gesture that we all can do.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC.
