Book 12 in the justice series certainly does not disappoint. These books just keep getting better and better. A fantastic roller coaster of a thriller.

Lorne Warner has been reinstated in her position as inspector just in time to deal with a kidnapped mother and infant. The kidnapper has taken the unusual step of contacting Lorne and is involving her in the search for the missing family in a sadistic way. As Lorne and her team chase leads across London, time is running out for the Hardy family. It seems this kidnapper is determined to make a kill, and he doesn’t care if it’s the mother and child he took, or Lorne herself. Comley’s books are some of the best, most believable crime fiction written today

I was given this book as an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review. And in my opinion, that was a win-win transaction, because I honestly won the lotto with this book. I like my crime fiction to be intelligent, making you wonder who is the baddie, and not giving you the bad guy's name and address on the first page already! This book has everything that a true crime fiction fanatic like me can wish for! We met Lorne Warner again, and I could identify with her on many levels, as I'm also a strong independent woman who has to balance my working life with being a mother. There was references to previous cases that was better understood if you've read the previous books, but the book is easily read as a standalone. Lorne took over temporarily as inspector from her very pregnant friend, and literally takes you on a rollercoaster trip through London. From the one side of London, to the other, the kidnapper sends Lorne with a series of clues and challenges. I started feeling sorry for her, because it sounded so exhausting! The treasure hunt becomes personal when her daughter is involved, but at least the kidnapper and his motives is revealed at the end of it all. The book leaves you with the feeling of needing MORE of Lorne ! Thanks for an awesome book Mel, it was an honor to read it! HIGHLY recommended

This is the twelfth book in the series and it is still as exciting as reading the first one. Each case is unique with underlying stories that just grow with the series. Relationships strengthen and the familiarity of the core characters fit like a pair of your favourite slippers. The book makes your heart race and your blood boil when a young mum and her baby are kidnapped from their own home. There is no struggle but complete compliance with the woman after the intruder threatens to snap the baby's neck if she doesn't follow his instructions. Lorne takes the role of Inspector again in this novel and is completely baffled by a wealthy business man that neither reported the abduction of his wife and child and who seems to put his business before anything else. The story takes a more sinister turn though when the kidnapper will only speak to Lorne and refers to her using her maiden name. Could this be someone from her past? Sean Roberts partners Lorne as they are shunted around landmarks in London looking for clues the kidnapper Warrior has given her. Lorne is feisty but Warrior intends to break her both physically and mentally. This is one of the toughest cases she has had yet as she wonders if there is some sort of ulterior motive to the abduction. M.A. Comley delivers a fast paced novel that will delight her followers of this series. Although it could be read as a stand alone novel, as there are refreshers in the book, I believe it has a greater impact if you know the whole story behind it. Roll on number 13 Thank you to Netgalley and M.A. Comley for allowing me to read and review this book.

Rich businessmen's wives and children are being kidnapped for a hefty ransom. Meanwhile Lorne Warner is being run ragged, obeying the kidnapper's demands, racing from one part of London to another. This is the first book I have read by this author and I can see I've been missing out on a treat. She knows how to write, how to tell a good story - to make it so exciting that you can hardly bear to put the book down - can't ask for more than that! I now look forward to reading other books by Ms Comley.

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley in return for an honest review

This is the first M A Comley novel I have read but it certainly won't be the last.

I loved the whole concept of the treasure hunt and having to follow clues across London under strict time limits.

The writing flows easily from the pages making it an easy read which I managed in one sitting, it also helps that I found the story fast paced and thrilling making me want to keep turning the pages until I found out what happened next. The story drew me in, kept me engaged and then spat me out at the end sweating and breathless as though I had been taking part in the treasure hunt alongside Lorne.

I now have to seek out and read all the other Calculated Justice books. Thank you for that M A Comley.

Definitely a book I would recommend!

I really enjoyed this latest instalment of the Justice series. It can be read as a stand alone book but it may be worthwhile catching up on Lornes progression by reading the series from the start. I think Cruel Justice, the first in the series (and a cracking start it is too!) is often free on Amazon. Once you read that one I think you will definitely want to follow Lorne and her colleagues and family troubles further. Saying this, I think I may have missed a couple of them (Calculated Justice is number 12 in this series) so I am keeping an eye out for those as well. Back to Calculated Justice then! This time Lorne seems to be involved in a case that has some personal connection to her. When a mother and child are kidnapped from their home by The Warrior, Lorne (now acting DI due to Katys pregnancy) is forced into a warped treasure hunt around London's best loved attractions to save them. But when others are also kidnapped, can Lorne work out why and who is controlling the action behind the scenes.
It was a real rollercoaster this one, a race against time thriller fixed on Lorne but also with everyone working to help her as usual (Tony, Katy and Sean have her back!). It felt like a bit of a goodbye to Lorne, with mentions of past cases and the Unicorn, but I hope not as I really enjoy these books. I did find the ending a bit rushed but it seemed to follow the pattern of the adrenaline filled plotline so maybe book 13 will follow!
I am now off to catch up on this authors next series which starts with Wrong Place as the second one is due out soon and I don't want to get left behind!
An enjoyable fun packed 4* read for me!
I received a copy of this book via netgalley in return for an unbiased review.

Another heart stopping case of Lorne in the Justice series! Lorne is newly reinstated as an Inspector and is immediately confronted with the kidnapping of different women with their children, but it is very soon clear that there is more behind it than the standard kidnapping. Lorne is contacted by the kidnapper and she and her team are caught up in a chase through the city to fulfil the demands of the kidnapper in time – or so it seems. Why does Lorne feel there is something familiar that she is missing and that the case is more personal to her? Is her old enemy back? Will she and her family come out together and not harmed out of this nightmare?
What a gut-wrenching action packed case full of suspense by Mel Comley in this 12th book in the Justice series. Highly recommended!

I hadn't read any of the Justice series, or any of M A Comley's books so this was a first for me, but certainly won't be the last - I have downloaded 2 more. This is not my usual genre but it will be from now on. Loved this book.
