This book was written by an eleven year old so it is quite simplistic and formulaic, but there is a great message. Guy Bacon lost his sister Charlotte during the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting. To help in recovery, therapy dogs came from all over the United States. They visited with the students and their handlers answered all kinds of questions. The dogs helped the children to gain some sort of normalcy. The book also talks about some of the other work these dogs do. The photographs that accompany each dog`s description show their joy at the job they do. A great book when learning about working animals, dealing with grief or just for dog lovers anywhere.

For something so good to come out of something so horrible is a great comfort.

I speak from personal experience when I say that therapy dogs are a great help in times like this, when perhaps you're not sure how to talk to another person. A dog, or any animal really, will listen to what you have to say without rejecting you.

The author, being eleven, had a simplistic writing style. It felt a bit stilted, but it also made it easier to experience the stories of these dogs through his eyes.

The photographs in the book were beautiful and chosen perfectly. I think that you could really sense the pride and happiness that each dog had in his or her work, and that made all the difference.
