Description

What if the key to deeper connection was already within you?

In a world of constant contact but growing disconnection, many of us yearn for more real, meaningful relationships that nourish us. We crave connection, but it often feels out of reach in a fast-paced, digitally driven world.

Living to Relate reveals a powerful truth: the way we relate to ourselves and to others shapes everything. Understanding and nurturing these relationships unlocks greater well-being, clarity and fulfillment in every area of life.

Inside this book, you’ll discover:

- Why relating is how we meet all our needs

- How your personal “template for relating” silently shapes your interactions

- The surprising impact of self-relating has on all your connections

- Why “hybrid relating” is fueling a rise in loneliness—and what to do about it

The most important relationship you will ever have is the one with yourself. Living to Relate will make it your strongest.

Dermot Casey is a Counseling Psychologist based in Cork City, Ireland. His work centers on helping people reconnect with their sense of self, believing that real mental well-being begins from within.

A Note From the Publisher

Dermot Casey is a psychologist, author, and podcaster based in Cork City, Ireland. Like many, he has navigated his own winding journey through life—complete with traffic jams and roadworks—but each time, he’s dusted himself off and continued moving forward.
A long-standing interest in the science of resilience has shaped his personal and professional life. His exploration into what makes people strong in the face of adversity continues to inspire his work and fuel his commitment to helping others on their own paths. Over time, he has also come to recognise the importance of self-support—often the most vital piece of the puzzle.

Dermot currently runs a private practice, having worked for thirteen years in public services as part of community-based family support teams. He has designed and led workshops on building self-esteem and cultivating resilience, always focusing on practical, compassionate tools for real-life challenges.

At the heart of his work is a belief in the power of our relationship with ourselves. He sees this connection as the foundation for meaningful change and the key to true strength, well-being, and resilience.

Outside of his professional life, Dermot is grounded by his family, who always come first. He enjoys photography, music, and watching soccer in his spare time.

Advance Praise

"In Living to Relate, Dr. Dermot Casey invites us to pause and consider the quiet power of our connections. With clarity and depth, he explores how the relationships we nurture—both with others and within ourselves—shape the arc of our well-being and the meaning of our days. This book is a call to reimagine what it means to belong, to create spaces of trust and care, and to live with intention in a world that often moves too fast." -- Dr. Emily Colwell, author of What If You're Right?

"Living to Relate: Cultivating a Deeper Connection with Yourself and Others in a Digitally Driven World by Dr. Dermot Casey is a wonderfully practical guide to improving the quality of our human connections. The world feels smaller than ever, and even though we have great access to people all over the world, it isn't exactly a hard sell to convince readers that this modern reality has actually made us far less social." -- Readers' Favorite
