In The Missing Peace, join Tim Ross, bestselling author and host of the popular podcasts The Basement and Wide Open, as you explore how the peace Jesus left you can help regulate your body and emotions as you break free of temporary happiness and walk toward true freedom.

Are you okay? Have you tried everything you can think of to get to a place where you feel better, happier? Maybe you've reached for temporary fixes like retail therapy, or playing video games, or finding a spouse or a house in the right zip code, or even prayer and listening to worship music. But nothing seems to work, at least not long-term. You don't know what's wrong, but you know you're not okay. You feel exhausted, overloaded, and frustrated. Is this just how life is?

Here's the good news: You don't have to stay stuck in that uncertainty or emptiness. In The Missing Peace, you will rediscover hope and an eye-opening perspective on the peace Jesus left you and how it will help you regulate your body and your emotions, regardless of what is happening around you. You will learn how:

  • The Holy Spirit's presence isn't just about power, but the power to have peace
  • You can't heal what you don't reveal, but giving voice to the soul opens the way to recovery
  • Freedom is a process that takes continual work and pressing in, but every step, big or small, is a step forward
  • Jesus saved you not to survive but to thrive—you don't need to settle for just getting by

The Missing Peace will help you break free from silent suffering and the insatiable search for happiness by learning how to be truly okay in life's challenges and walk toward the peace and the freedom God created you to enjoy.

This is the book I didn’t know I needed but I’m so glad I found it.

In this book Tim Ross provides a blueprint on how to allow yourself to be free. Free in your thoughts and emotions. Free to just be you. He encourages finding a therapist to deal with the things you can’t pray away.

I spent the majority of my life being what my mother calls a silent sufferer. The author uses this book to show readers the benefit and the strength in facing things head on and speaking out in order to heal. This is a an awesome book that I believe the more you read the more you will get out of it. Definitely one to be kept within reach.

Thank you NetGalley and Nelson Books for the opportunity to read this ARC

Trauma informed spiritual formation?! Say less.

In a world flooded with therapy speak, Tim brings all the meat of trauma informed practice with street level understandability all while leaving you in awe of How God divinely constructed us for healing and stands at our side walking FORWARD with us.

Thank you Tim for revealing Holy Spirit as regulator, the scripture as grounding practice & gratitude as a reworking tool for stepping into our new life.

Fantastic & highly recommend.

The Missing Peace is one of those books that feels like a conversation with a trusted friend—someone who is willing to be completely honest about their own struggles while pointing you back to the hope and peace found in Jesus.

What stood out to me most was Tim Ross’s authenticity. He doesn’t write from a place of having it all together; he writes as someone who has wrestled with real pain, real questions, and real healing. That honesty made this book incredibly refreshing and relatable.

One of my biggest takeaways was his discussion on accountability. Tim offers a powerful perspective on what true accountability actually looks like—not just having people who ask surface-level questions, but surrounding yourself with trusted individuals who know you deeply, love you enough to tell you the truth, and walk with you through the healing process.

This book is both challenging and encouraging. It reminds us that peace is not the absence of problems, but the presence of Jesus in the middle of them. It also reinforces the truth that healing begins when we are willing to be honest about what’s really going on inside.

If you’ve ever felt stuck, overwhelmed, or exhausted from trying to hold everything together, this book offers hope, practical wisdom, and a beautiful reminder that you don’t have to walk through life pretending to be okay.

I highly recommend this book to anyone longing for deeper peace, greater authenticity, and a better understanding of what it means to truly heal.

Tim Ross, bestselling author and podcaster, takes his readers on a journey of stepping out of temporary happiness and embracing true freedom. He writes on identifying our emotions, regulating the body, creating safety, rewriting our reactions, and more in ways that. go beyond doom scrolling, shopping addictions, and turning on worship music. He reminds us to slow down long enough to identify the deeper reasons for our unease, and to unravel them with purposeful strategies.

Sharing his own testimony, Ross illustrates how true healing begins with voicing our deepest pains. It's through revelation that healing can start. Silence carries deep suffering. But honest sharing can open one up to peace and freedom.

I was deeply encouraged by Ross' testimony and vulnerability in this book. Written in the style of one who's walked a healing journey, The Missing Peace combines real pain and real healing with trauma informed techniques in a deeply personal style. Ross' end goal is not coming to a place of erasing the pain, but healing it and using it in the Kingdom. He reminds us that peace is found in walking through our trauma with the One who provides perfect peace.

This was a very insightful book about finding peace. I found it refreshingly honest. The author was both candid and introspective about his own walk, and how that can apply to our own.

Ross offers a refreshing and honest look at finding peace in a world filled with distractions and uncertainty. His conversational style and transparency make the book highly relatable, and the biblical truths woven throughout provide encouragement and hope. While some sections resonated more strongly than others, the overall message is both timely and uplifting.
