Description

From beloved meditation teacher Sharon Salzberg, this workbook brings lovingkindness to life as a salve for fear, loneliness, anger, and alienation.

“Science suggests people who practice lovingkindness meditation can derive psychological, physiological, and even behavioral benefits. In essence, it is exactly what the world needs right now. Buy this workbook. Engage with it. You’ll be better off. And so, by extension, will the world.”—Dan Harris, host of the 10% Happier Podcast, New York Times bestselling author of 10% Happier

This dynamic workbook shares lovingkindness as the antidote we need today―a powerful practice that can help us loosen the tight grip of fear and so we can meet the world (and ourselves) with greater kindness and compassion.

Renowned meditation teacher Sharon Salzberg guides us in opening to our heart’s true potential, by showing us how to move from intention to action, constriction to openness, and alienation to interconnection. As Sharon writes, “When we practice lovingkindness, we acknowledge that every one of us shares a wish to be happy and a vulnerability to change and suffering. It doesn’t mean that you agree with someone, or want to spend any time with them. Rather, it is a deep understanding that all of life is intertwined.” The workbook includes:

· More than 50 practices crafted for different learning styles, including quizzes, reflections, and writing prompts
· Short “stealth meditations” that can be practiced any time
· Audio meditations guided by Sharon available to download or stream.

Whether you’re new to Sharon’s work or have practiced with her for years, this workbook invites you to integrate lovingkindness into daily life. As Sharon writes, “Our genuine, personal transformation isn’t a question of abstract appreciation for these ideas, but one of step-by-step bringing them to life.”

Living Lovingkindness Workbook helped me understand that kindness is not simply a personality trait but a skill that can grow through steady practice. I learned how paying closer attention to my intentions can help my choices better reflect my values. The exercises also showed me that self-compassion does not mean ignoring mistakes; it means responding to them without adding shame or harsh judgment. Another important lesson was that caring for others can include firm boundaries and does not require approving of harmful behavior. The meditations, reflections, and practical activities make the ideas easy to apply in everyday situations and relationships. For anyone hoping to become more patient, connected, and thoughtful, this is a workbook I am highly recommending.
