The premise is immediately intriguing, and the tension only intensifies as the story unfolds. The novel follows Dionna and Julian Davies, a married couple attempting to repair their fractured relationship through an unconventional arrangement that quickly spirals beyond their control.

I absolutely loved this book. From the very beginning, I was hooked by the characters, the emotional tension, and the mystery surrounding the story. Every chapter left me eager to keep reading.

Baby, this was such an amazing read. It grabs you right in listen this story was insane. The characters were insane. What is a marriage these days like oh my gosh it was just so good and dangerous at the same time I was on edge reading it

Once I started reading, I could not put this book down. This is a romantic suspense about a couple married for years who have lost the spark and spice in the marriage. A chance encounter brings a woman into their lives who takes on a role as their house manager and then helps the couple revive their marriage as their intimacy doula. BUTTT all is not what it seems. As we read, secrets revealed could shift everyone's life. Reading this felt like the old days when I would watch Lifetime Movie Network. I thought this story was going to be about a couple who invite someone into their bed, and it takes a turn after she becomes obsessed with the husband. THIS AIN'T THAT. There was no cheating, thankfully, and I loved that they remained committed to their marriage. The other FMC kept it professional. BUTTTT her ulterior motives are definitely there. The Plot twist will leave your mouth hanging and honestly pointing fingers.

I must say this. Robbi Renee has figured out the strength of storytelling. She really surprised me with this one. Here's why.

From reading the first page, I was locked in. The way she writes her characters’ in-depth feelings will resonate with you. This is how you know you’ll enjoy the story.

The triggers were front and center, and as a reader, I found myself appreciating that - even the heavy stuff. She wanted us to know and understand her characters. She did it unapologetically!

The storyline was good, too. I was impressed by how she built and crafted her beginning, middle, and explosive end. When I reached the end, I was spent from all the emotional turmoil each character faced. Wow!

Ms. Renee, please give yourself a huge pat on the back for giving us readers a fantastic story to read.

The Secret Invitation is a deliciously unsettling domestic thriller that starts with a marriage trying to find its way back to intimacy and slowly turns into something much darker. I loved how Robbi Renee takes an unconventional idea and keeps raising the stakes until you’re left wondering who can actually be trusted. The tension builds quietly, the secrets become increasingly difficult to ignore, and Nouri’s presence adds this constant sense of unease that kept me turning the pages. A compelling, twisty read about marriage, temptation, obsession and what happens when you invite the wrong person into your life.

A quote from the author’s note that describes Julian and Dionna’s story perfectly, “What happens when love and truth collide in ways that make right and wrong impossible to seperate?” I’m not a huge fan of slow burns but this book had me locked in on Julian and Dionna trying to get their marriage back on track after being gutted by grief. But then the plot twisted and I screamed so loud because I fawking knew it!

Anything Robbi Renee writes is an automatic 5-star read for me! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The first book I ever read by Robbi Renee was Somebody’s Wife, and when my request for The Secret Invitation was approved, I was SO excited. And now that I’ve finished it… PFFFF! Where do I even begin?! 😭🔥

This book tackles some incredibly important and emotional themes, including death, grief, trauma, perimenopause, intimacy, marriage, and healing. And Robbi Renee handled these topics with so much honesty and emotional depth.

I absolutely fell in love with ALL the characters, but my favorite has to be Julian. ❤️

Julian and Dionna are married, but after tragically losing their daughter during childbirth, their marriage becomes deeply affected by grief and loss. Throughout this incredibly painful period, Julian continues to show up for his wife. He gives her the space, patience, and grace she needs to grieve.

But at times, I felt like Julian never really gave himself that same space to grieve. Instead, he slipped into “fix-it mode,” trying to solve problems and make things better. Some of the choices he made weren’t necessarily the wisest… but I could understand where they came from. His intentions were rooted in love, even when his actions didn’t always have the outcome he hoped for.

And when Dionna began struggling with perimenopause, I really appreciated Julian’s patience and understanding. He was willing to put his own sexual needs and intimacy aside at times because he understood that she was going through something bigger than herself.

Their journey back to each other honestly had my HEART. 🥹❤️ I loved watching them navigate grief, resentment, intimacy, forgiveness, and ultimately find their way back to one another.

And then… THAT PLOT?! 👀

Because WHAT?!

I genuinely did NOT see some of those twists coming. The plot had me questioning everything, and by the end I was just sitting there like… WOW. 😭

Robbi Renee really said, “Let me give you grief, marriage drama, healing, intimacy, trauma AND a plot twist,” and somehow made it all work. 😂🔥

This was emotional, messy, thought-provoking, romantic, and completely unexpected.

Another 5 stars from me. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
