Mom!" They shouted. "Did you hear that NOISE? Do you see that THING outside our window?" Fantastic leafy creatures hide in the trees, and it’s your job to spot them! The Kudzu game was created during a long drive to school, but now everyone wants to play. Join Sam and Andy and the rest of the gang as they search for cool creatures, friendly beasts, and even their favorite pets in the twisted Kudzu vines. And when winter weather takes the green away, maybe the crazy creatures YOU find will end up hiding in your OWN Christmas tree!

Gorgeously written and beautifully illustrated, this adorable children's story warmed even my cold Scroogish heart. Two young brothers, Sam and Andy, worry about spooky tree shadows one night. Their wise mother shows them how to look for friendly animal and bird shapes formed by the kudzu-wrapped trees. The boys teach their friends, and incorporate kudzu into their expansive imaginative life.

I never thought of seeing shapes in anything other than clouds. I'm excited to try this out on the kids, and see where they can see shapes.

What a fun read! If you live in the Southern US, you are well aware of Kudzu. Kudzu for Christmas by Emilie Eklin Khair gives children and adults creative ideas similar to cloud pictures. Young children will be delighted by this original story featuring a plant that is unloved by most. I enjoyed seeing this plant in a different light as much as the two brothers overcame their fear of the outside dark.
Perspective is everything as this off beat story reminds young and old. Sure to bring a smile to everyone’s face. Enjoyable.

This is a cute story about a mom re-directing her children's overactive imaginations in a good way so they don't scare themselves by seeing scary shapes in nature.
