A vibrant, lyrical celebration of Black joy and resilience that empowers children to embrace their EXTRAordinary selves.

And just like the abundant, continuous flow of a picture-perfect waterfall,
we can’t stop. We won’t stop.
’Cause to us, to be EXTRA is to be JUST RIGHT!

In a world that often tells Black children they are either not enough or too much, We So EXTRA arrives as a bold, rhythmic anthem of affirmation. This picture book is a love letter to Black excellence—from world-changing achievements and super-fly hairstyles to the universal language of dance and laughter.

Former educator Nikki Ace delivers a lyrical prose that pulses with pride, reminding every child that their extra-ness is an exquisite, intentional design. Paired with the dynamic, high-contrast illustrations of Devon Blow, this story celebrates the oomph Black people bring to every corner of the planet. It is a vibrant call for children to take up space, celebrate their heritage, and shine without apology.
