The battle of wills between Cyrus Dodd and Virgil Jackson started out as a minor skirmish over pigs. Both men were prideful and stubborn. Neither would walk away. Who knew that it would propel both of them down a path that would ultimately change their lives and that of their families. The Regrets of Cyrus Dodd is heartbreaking and yet uplifting. Bette Lee Crosby had me in tears. She showed how revenge and hate destroy everything that they touch and that life can be hard and hurtful but hanging onto the past and never embracing the future is not the answer. The characters tugged at my heart and I felt their pain and their joy. The author skillfully crafted a story that had such emotional intensity that it left me exhausted. This is the best book that I've read this year. Thank you Bette Lee Crosby!
I received a copy in exchange for an honest and unscripted review.
A beautifully written heartfelt story about the price we pay for our actions. Regrets we carry with us can prevent us from enjoying life and happiness. Good wins easily over evil. Love conquers hate. This is the best book I've read written by Bette Lee Cosby so far. Awaiting time to read her others.
This is the 4th in a series and Cyrus muses about his regrets. He takes us back to when he and his wife were young and had a farm that Cyrus loved working. One problem with the farm is that the water was controlled by a neighbor so he had to be pleasant to this egotistical man. One day pride rears its ugly head and neither man will back down--the water is interrupted and life changes forever for both families. The Dodds and the Jacksons. While both men have loving wives it is the action of the men that determine who will continue in love. The time goes from moving about in a horse and wagon to the ending with cars. Both men have regrets although one admits it and the other won't so it eats his family up. I definitely recommend this book and now I need to rerad the other books in the series.
