Description

*Standalone mature high school romance*

All Blue Everest wants is the wide open sky above her head and the soft earth beneath her feet. And maybe to spread a little love where she can. When she gets the opportunity to live with a father she’s never met and to enroll in public school for the first time, she brings her optimistic and free-spirited nature with her.

But it’s not long before she meets her polar opposite, Joshua Hunt, whose hard edges resist every smile she sends his way . . .

Hunt’s never met a girl who smiles so easily. It can’t be normal. Combine that with the flowers in her hair, constant daydreaming, and a knack for sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong—and he wants nothing to do with Blue Everest. He’s got enough going on without her distractions, and everything, everyone, he cares about is depending on him to stay focused.

Blue’s ready to go wherever the wind takes her, and Hunt’s determined to steer his own ship. But sometimes the wind changes course, pulling two people into a rough and devastating storm that can crush the strongest of hearts. And sometimes, it takes more than you ever thought you were capable of to get back to blue skies.

Has it all. It's edgy and sad. It will tug at you heart. There are spots where you close your eyes because the reading gets rough but you don't stop. You have to know. It's outstanding. A must read. Happy reading! I

Omg I enjoyed reading this book. It’s so emotional and inspirational. I’m so glad that I picked up this book. I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did, it really surpassed my expectations. Thank you Netgalley for giving me an arc copy in exchange for an honest review.

One of the reasons I picked up a T L Martin book is because the name sounded quite familiar. Then I did a bit of digging and realized that I have read another book by her, and that book happened to be as emotionally charged as Blue Skies.

I loved Blue, she was “whimsical” and always in the present in a happy hour lucky kinda way. Joshua was realistic and also happened to be in the present, but in a more somber way. And as different as they from each other, they needed each other to make themselves complete.

I loved side characters, I liked Rebecca, she was considerate and she was sensitive. I liked Tim cuz he was making an effort and was there when needed.

I loved the emotional, angsty ride, I love how well the words were used to sketch a full, heartfelt story, it’s a testament to Martin’s ability to write emotions so well that they feel real.

I’d highly recommend this book to readers who like to go on the emotional journey a good book promises to provide and ends on a high.

I was given an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

Happy reading.

I was lucky to receive an ARC of this book from Net Galley. But good news, it's already out! This is a beautiful YA/Adult romance. I fell in love with Blue and Joshua. You will too. Highly recommend!

“Maybe that’s me romanticizing the idea of getting old, but I think it’s sad how easy it is to fast-forward through life, each day blending into the next. So often we don’t see — let alone feel — the magic in the moments we’re making until we’re old enough to pause and view them as memories.”
This book was absolutely lovely. It captured my attention from the very start. I felt warm and gooey as I read it.
Blue is a 17 year old girl raised off the grid, for the most part, in a hippie sort of fashion. Homeschooled and sheltered from the negative aspects and feelings that come with a “normal” Childhood nowadays. She has been given the opportunity to spend time with her dad who she was raised to believe left her and her mom before she was even born. It’s there she meets Joshua Hunt, and embarks on her first romantic relationship while also discovering life isn’t all she was brought up to believe.

This was just beautiful and so refreshing! Blue was naive, but so intelligent and open minded. Her character was super sweet and charming. I loved her. She was so confident and I loved that she never pretended to be innocent. Now Hunt, he was the most surprising. He was very insecure, but never forced that feeling onto Blue. He was so intense but never controlling. I dont know what it is about women nowadays loving controlling men and thinking they’re hot. Hunt, Hunt was hella hot in all his self consciousness. He never found scapegoats for the way he was and I loved his development as he discovers he’s his own man away from his genetics. Such an awesome character!

I did find this book get a little slow around the 30/40% mark but it quickly picked up again and blew me away. The mysteries surrounding Blue and Hunt individually we’re really intriguing and I found myself surprised that I never guess what some of the big reveals were. Not what I was expecting. Such a great job.
I also found myself enjoying Kimmies unique character.
A solid 4.5 ⭐️ for me!
