This is such a great book about Stoicism, which to me is really a philosophy about emotional resilience. Resilience is a top indicator of well-being, so it's important, especially in today's world. I've read many books on Stoicism over the years and I can say this is one of the best. I highly recommend this book.

Stoicism, by George H. was an insightful read, and well worth the time!
To be an avid lover of Stoicism and see it brought to life with such passion, and it's relevance in this day and age illustrated so keenly, was a real treat. He successfully brings the leading Stoic ideas out of antiquity and into our modern age, showcasing how we should, and can, apply to our lives.

If you're tired of living a life hampered by circumstance or disappointment and are willing to take the steps towards complete control of yourself and happiness, if you're a student in need of a refresher, or if you're just curious and want to know more, than this book is for you.

Editor note:
This fell shy of the extra star, because I felt he repeated a few points near the end, and could have been a little more concise; but aside from brushing up on a few loose ends, this was exemplary! Excellent work.

[I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review. If this sounds like something you'd love to get into (because who doesn't want free books?) then head over to NetGalley and start reading today!]

Having read leading books based on the principles of Stoicism, I was on familiar ground with George H.'s STOICISM. Where his book differed was in its straightforward descriptions and intelligent discussion of where Stoicism fits with modern world thinking, philosophies, and lifestyle. I would have highlighted countless passages, but settled for this one: "The paradox of Stoicism, as defined by Epictetus, is that despite the fact that we have little control over anything, we nevertheless have the capacity to have perfect control over our level of happiness." That simple statement summarizes for me both Stoicism and this timely, down-to-earth, wonderful guide. I received a copy of this book and these opinions are my own, unbiased thoughts.

Do you want to be emotionally strong ?

Transitioning from a teen to an Adult has it's own struggles. Sometimes it's about unfulfilled potential, and sometimes it's the emotional turmoil of letting go your closest people.

That was the phase of life when I learned about stoicism, and wanted to read up more about it. The basic idea of stoicism is holding your composure in the extremeties of emotions.

I tried reading 'Meditations' by Marcus Aurelius, but I found it's language a bit complex for a beginner like me, who is new to the genre of philosophy entirely.

This book was a great introduction to stoicism for me. It covered the basic ideas of stoicism, what to avoid, what mindset you need to have, history of stoicism's origin and much more.

I enjoyed reading it. The language is simple and easy to understand, and it is great if you're completely new to stoicism and want to read up on it.
