It's that time of year again! We're gearing up for one of my favorite weeks of the year - Book Expo America! And as I sift through lists and spreadsheets, one of my favorite resources is the Buzz Books compilation put out each year by Publisher's Lunch. This year, they split up the adult and YA genres into two books, so there are even more excerpts to be read. And both books are now FREE for download!

Some that sound great are Deborah Harkness's new book, Lock In, Before I GoThe Ploughmen: A NovelThe Magician's LieandThe Midnight Plan of the Repo Man

A wonderful guide and overview of new fall/winter book releases! I’ve never seen this publication before, but being a book blogger and an excited reader I decided to take a peek and very happy about it. I am unable to attend the full BEA conference this year but am attending BookCon and it’s nice to know what to expect and look forward to, from both new to me and familiar/favorite authors. The excerpts also present a nice opportunity to determine whether or not the featured book is to my taste, and quite a few are! Now my to-read list is even longer and I can’t wait for all the exciting books to come.

A fantastic book that provided multiple insights into future releases! I enjoyed the excerpts of titles I'm really looking forward to reading and also the introduction of new authors in the debut section.
Thank you very much for the copy.

Buzz Books helps to take a little more of the guess work out of picking books to review. Really wish there was a Buzz Books for all genres.

Excellent overview of upcoming titles. I found this very helpful prior to BookExpo and for choosing new galleys.

Thank you so much for providing this wonderful resource! It offers a terrific overview of upcoming releases and is incredibly helpful in choosing new books to review.

An excellent overview of select fall/winter releases! An opportunity to refresh your perspective on established authors new releases and get a take debut authors. Great for ordering titles and planning displays.

I am looking forward to reading many of the titles which are discussed and excerpted in this edition of Buzz Books, particularly the many non-fiction selections dealing with business/technology and with social justice. Our students are reading more and more non-fiction for assignments and will also be intrigued by books on big data, Google, and the impact of technology (from Nicholas Carr and Peter Thiel). In addition, they will once again be touched by the thoughtful writing on international and educational issues from authors like Nicholas Kristof and Joel Klein. Thank you for the opportunity to read and recommend through NetGalley.

I love these samplers. A veritable feast of "I want" books added to my list.

Another Buzz Book that I love! This is such an invaluable resource. I was so pleased that the young adult books were split into their own book. I still found plenty of books that I was interested in through this book. Thank you, Buzz Book!

This book was a great sampling of the offerings that are going to be at BEA this year. A nice spread of fiction and non-fiction, with a wide array of genres within those two categories. I really loved that a majority of the books came with links to request the full book from NetGalley. An excellent way to promote the books in multiple ways. That was a stroke of genius on someone's part.
My only quasi-complaint is that it was both too long and too short. I am a greedy little thing and would have liked more book excerpts, however if it was any longer, I wouldn't have been able to finish it before BEA! Again, great selection of books, I'm glad I got to read it.

There isn't much to say that hasn't been said. This collection of excerpts is perfect for any reader who is looking for the next great read. Not only does it cover well-known authors such as Deborah Harkness, but it also gives special attention to debut authors that have written note-worthy books. It also covers both fictional and non-fictional works. This book has helped me discover titles that I would like to review, especially ones I hadn't known about previously. Definitely give this a read.

I really appreciate these overviews of what is on deck for the upcoming publishing season. Great way to plan my reading and identifying books of interest for review and for my local independent bookstore. Thanks.

I LOVE THIS IDEA! I got to read excerps from many upcoming books, I requested full editions of those I wanted to read and now have an over view of many new things coming this winter. Brilliant.

This was a great resource to see up and coming books. A lot of these books I had not even heard about until reading this. Thanks!

As a person who is about to be in charge of adding books to the library's collection, this has been an extremely informative book on what patrons might want.

This was a great sampler and much more than I had anticipated from each book. I am definitely looking forward to most of these releases. This exclusive excerpt package gives you the ability to see what upcoming titles you're interested in. It gives you just enough book and wonderful information on each.

This was such an amazing resource! There are so many excellent books featured here that I might not otherwise have discovered. I am looking forward to seeking them out!

What a wonderful gift this is to preview books that whet our appetite for the fall..

I love that I can get a quick look at the upcoming books to look forward to. It really helped me see what to keep a look out for. What a great catalog of book previews!

Great resource for requesting copies from NetGalley and creating my list of books to blog. I've never requested one of these before, but I was pleasantly surprised--loved it :)

After reading Buzz Books 2014 for the Young Adult category, I was not surprised to find a variety of excerpts from various genres and publishers. There was a book from almost every genre, so I was able to find new titles to read that cover more than just a couple topics! I also like that there's a summary before every excerpt so I could easily decide which excerpts I wanted to read first. The author bios are also nice for the more curious reader.

These editions are simply the best way to discover new talents ahead of time and I look forward to getting to read a lot of the books in their entirety. A thrilling, exciting opportunity.

This is a very cool resource and is a great way to discover new books that i might not have heard about before. I has got me really excited for some books being released later this year. I recommend you check this sampler out!

Another great sampler! It's awesome to be able to read samples of upcoming titles to help decide which ones would be the best use of my time for reading and reviewing on the blog. I like how it's divided into sections for fiction, nonfiction, and debut titles. I've been looking forward to Jessie Burton's THE MINIATURIST for some time so I enjoyed getting a peek at that, and the sampler also turned me on to some books I hadn't previously heard about, such as Rebecca Frankel's WAR DOGS. Thanks for offering this sneak preview of so many cool-sounding books!

This is not so much a book as a guide to the books that are coming out during the latter two season of the year. It was very informative, and did exactly what it needed to do, co that readers know what is coming out at the end of the year, and which titles they should keep an eye out for. I did indeed learn about more books that sound fantastic. This book everything it needed to do without becoming repetitive or boring.

This selection of new titles is proving to be very helpful in my pre-ordering process. I appreciate the summaries of the title as well as being able to see the cover art. The samples are generous and very useful in deciding whether or not to try for a full galley.

A great way to discover new reads. Looking forward to the next 'Buzz' already. Thanks.

These titles are an excellent resource for learning about the books that are coming up. They make an excellent tool for knowing what books are of interest to me and which ones I may want to request through Netgalley or from the publishers directly for review.

An excellent preview of the Fall and Winter fiction titles. It's a great opportunity to find authors that you haven't read before. I've added quite a few of these titles to my reading list. It's a very handy and useful resource for book lovers.

Wow. Talk about a powerful tool to help expand your TBR pile! I was surprised to find so many phenomenal previews this round. I have a feeling it’ll be a great season for reading! The excerpts that caught my attention most were The Forgotten Girls by Sara Blaedel, The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton, and Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography.
Thank you for access to this wonderful tool. It makes book blogging so much easier when you already have a good idea what books you are most interested in and have gotten a chance to get sucked in by their hook!

These Buzz Books are the greatest idea since movable type. I love the synopses, the excerpts, the links -- everything! I hope they keep this up for every season.

I love the Buzz Book excerpts, as they always introduce me to books I’ve not yet heard of, or allow me an insight into books I am anticipating the releases of. The book I am most looking forward to reading – particularly after the excellent excerpt – is by far Neil Patrick Harris’ Choose Your Own Autobiography. His wit shines through his writing, and I know I will devour it. A darker, but very intriguing, looking read is Alan Cumming’s memoir Not My Father’s Son. I don’t read many memoirs and biographies, but I aspire to broaden my range of non-fiction reading, and I can tell that Cumming’s story will be quite impactful. I look forward to their releases – and many more included in this volume – and thank you for the opportunity to garner a sneak peak at the buzz books for Fall/Winter.

Buzz Books has become a 'must read' for anyone interested in promoting books or reading, it is a highlight of my reading calendar for sure. It not only highlights the usual bi hitters but also focuses on adult fiction, presenting Y.A books in a stand alone Buzz books. I completely feel that this reflects the tone of the extracts and in no way detratcs from the impact of Buzz Books. The balance of fiction/non fiction and established/new writers is spot on and I can see many items that I will be eagerly tracking down, buying as presents or asking Father Christmas for!!

I found BuzzBooks 2014 to be extremely useful in filling in my reading list for the second half of this year. I highlighted all of the books in the news section that I want to read, and bookmarked the excerpts that looked worthwhile. I did find the excerpts to be less helpful that the news section. I'm more likely to just look up a synopsis of a book from the news section than read an excerpt. I didn't read any of the excerpts all the way through. I do understand, however, that many professional readers would find the excerpts useful. I definitely want to read any other editions of BuzzBooks as they come out, and I hope to attend BEA in 2015.

Buzz Books is a very useful resource for reviewers. I found the excerpts introduced me to new writers and encouraged me to give a longer look to books I might have misjudged. Thanks!

A perfect blend of excerpts and sample writings from highly anticipated Fall/Winter releases. A nice compilation!

Highly recommended!! My first experience with Buzz Books-can't wait for the next edition. Great summaries of the books and the excerpts were just what I needed to make a good buying decision. I always think there are authors that I will LOVE their books, buy them and think "meh", the Buzz Books is perfect to get a little taste of the book before I make the purchase. It won't save me any money since, alas, I found several new to me authors in this volume that are now on my list to buy on their release date! Even casual readers will find this book helpful and informative.

This is a great aid in sampling the scheduled fall releases. Librarians and book store owners would find this book indispensable. Just as a professional reader and book club facilitator, I found some great books for my reading list. Several categories of books are included -- fiction, debut fiction, nonfiction, commercial fiction (meaning books from already popular authors such as Jonathan Kellerman and John Grisham), and young adult. Excerpts are included for several new books. The books are listed by author and by publisher. There is even a link for requesting galley copies prior to publication (must have a NetGalley account).

Particularly strong is the Debut Fiction section—led by Matthew Thomas's We Are Not Ourselves, which promises to live up to its early hype with an audaciously old-school voice in modern storytelling. Also notable is Nayomi Munaweera's Island of a Thousand Mirrors, a familial narrative reminiscent of Amitav Ghosh's Sea of Poppies.
I very much enjoyed this sampler format. Thank you for sharing, Pub Lunch!

To be honest I’d never heard of this series Buzz Books, I figured that you had to search online on multiple websites before finding the books you wanted this season. Now that I know I don’t have to do all that work and that these are free I’ll be downloading the rest of them because one of my favorite pass times is adding books to my reading list.
In fact I have found a few books on this list that I have added to my own list:
The Undertaking by Audrey Magee The Story of Land and Sea by Katy Smith We Are Not Ourselves by Mathew Thomas.
This is such a useful guide for buying these books and finding them. It lists the price and the place to find them after a long and juicy excerpt that we all love. And when the release date for the novel is. They also make it very easy to use, lots of links and examples so that it’s hard to get lost, unless it’s in thought about reading all of these novels.
I never really care about the new and in books that are coming out but this book gives a compelling argument about why you should read these.
I am so looking forward to reading these books, and downloading more books from the Buzz series.

One of the things I like about this publication (which comes out twice a year) is that it gives you a taste of books coming out from both veteran and new writers, plus a nice mixture of non-fiction. The best part is that you don't have to read every selection or even the whole selection to get an idea of whether you would want to read the whole book.

I thoroughly enjoy Buzz Books. As a blogger it's great to have a heads up as to what books will be released. A handy and informative tool allowing bloggers, readers, reviewers a way to plan their reading schedule as their curiosity runs high. I use Buzz Books year after year. A great way to see upcoming releases and authors in the literary world. Highly suggest for others to take a glance and explore Buzz Books.

I love this - it really helped me to start focusing on books to recommend and what to purchase for the book club and library

This is always my favorite to read just before BEA. It show cases the amazing titles being offered during BEA plus it's a great way to read snippets of upcoming books. I usually place a few of the titles on my wish list. Always a great choice of books coming out
